So I'm thinking a lot about Capcom after watching a Full Playthrough of Resident Evil 7 (I didn't buy it because I was skeptical about it). I believe they did a very good job with the latest entry in that franchise, modernizing it in a way that respected the legacy, I think, and introducing a new way of playing that is very similar to current horror game standards (first person).
After the credits rolled, my mind immediately jumped to the DMC franchise and what they could do to bring it back on track. What if they did a similar thing with DMC? DmC clearly didn't work for them, it was a very divisive title that didn't set the world on fire, so I think the solution is, like with RE7, to go back to its roots while also ackowledging what's popular in the character action games in this day and age: a "DMC Souls".
Before some of you start complaining, I wanna say I'd also prefer the old DMC3 / 4 style, but Capcom wasn't happy with how DMC4 and DmC performed and they're aware other titles with the same style (Bayonetta 2) had mediocre to terrible sales, despite critical acclaim in some cases. The solution, then, would be to make DMC5 look and feel like DMC1, which leaned more towards horror and exploration than 'crazy' combat, while also making the gameplay meaningful, similar to a Souls / Nioh title. You could still have it be fast-paced and hard (see: Nioh). You could still retain some of DMC's core elements, which would work perfectly with this new idea (you can still suck red orbs from dead enemies), you can still have demon trigger and cool demonic weapons.
Thoughts, /v/?

Yes. I like DMC and Souls series but I like DMC because it's DMC, I don't want every game to be like Dark Souls. DMC and Dark Souls are so different that this a horrible idea.

There is no argument, because DMC made like Souls wouldn't be DMC. They are 2 wayyyy different things. DMC is all about not taking itself seriously and killing shit in stylish ways, pretty much 100% offense, vs Dark Souls where you methodically plan stuff and your battles are rarely flashy and more about your method and taking things slow. You might as well be asking why they don't make a Resident Evil game more like a Zelda game.

Theoretically, yes. Kinda plays like a mini Disgaea with its grindan steamroll bullshit
the balance is completely fucked though. From one chapter to the next you may end up dealing next to zero damage after having a relatively easy time. It all depends on how many 4 or 5 stars you have, and since draws are very very limited so far you may get fucked over pretty quickly and have to opt for boring grinding.
I'd say it kinda sucks right now but it definately has potential to become a decent mobile game and a great game for FE enthusiasts. Hopefully it doesn't just die off, and gives more opportunities for free players to get draws.
