last time final fantasy had fun gameplay
>>381433329
Terrible gameplay
Ripped the story from Grandia 2
>>381433405
I like both games and the stories aren't similar at all outside of "Protect this girl as she goes somewhere to do something" and even the circumstances of that are entirely different.

you should play the Type 0 HD.
It's damn great action-JRPG hybrid. Probably one of my favorite games in the entire series now.
Will any game ever rival the comfiness of Namco Museum?
I would actually buy ROMs if they all had comfy hub worlds like the namco museum games.
Will you be purchasing Xcom 2: War of the Chosen when it is released?

HOW DARE YOU TALK ABOUT UPCOMING VIDEO GAMES OR VIDEO GAME UPDATES
YOU SHILL
>>381433310
Probably not day-1, but yes, I will. I love me some XCOM
>>381433310
Probably. I'm about due for another run of that game by then.
Haven't tried the alien hunter shit, so I imagine I'm in for a tough one
Let's have a thread for discussing old vidya mechanics.
Are life and game over systems still good to have in games, or are they outdated and need to be replaced entirely?
What are good alternative punishments for dying in a game to replace the game over concept?
Do you view your life counter as a "current" life counter (where 1 would be your last life) or a "reserve" life counter (where 0 would be your last life)?
>>381433292
MGS replaced it with "Mission Failed" and "Time Paradox" did it not? You can always "Continue".
It's just a way of keeping you reined in on a goal so they game has some direction. Solid Snake couldn't complete a mission if he was filled with bullets, so don't make choices that will fill Snake with bullets.
Do it creative ways that match the game's atmosphere
one of the best game over mechanics is destroy all humans where you just have another clone made of you
>>381433684
I'm thinking more of game overs that are paired with lives. Perhaps a better example would have been a game like Super Mario World or DKC, where losing a life makes you restart the level/checkpoint and getting a game over makes you restart from the last save which could be multiple levels back. These are cases where people usually argue against the game over mechanic as being outdated.
> Game steals old game mechanics and throws them on one big pile
> Not even the art style is new
> They call it refreshing
> It's not
How is this allowed?
Are the Legacy of Kain games worth getting into? I keep hearing mixed things about them
>>381433141
They are more than worth an attempt at playing through them. If they feel too old and clunky then watch a walkthrough on YouTube.
The franchise has the greatest writing, dialogue, story, characters, voice acting, and continuity in existence. You will not find a game that does these elements better than LoK.
It has never been a series known for its gameplay, so it does require a great effort to play through the series due to how poorly they have aged. On some PCs they do not even run.
>>381433141
The games are now very aged though the story is the most intricate I've ever seen in a game.
I've owned them all for years and played through them multiple times and always enjoyed them. However if you either don't really understand the complications of time travel or like having the final game left as a cliff hanger....
>>381433141
Just play it anon, Soul Reaver 2 is pretty much the best game I ever played and the first one where I cried like a bitch at the end.
What game would you recommend me to give to a person who is a fan of The Elder Scrolls, s.t.a.l.k.e.r, Fallout-series, Metro-series.
Right now he's playing battlegrounds, he's also played alot of Arma, DayZ.
He only plays on PC. I know there is a new Metro game coming out in 2018 but I just wanna know if there is a fitting game that's coming out earlier, or is out already?
What are some comfy games?
I'd also like to know.
I'm kind of lacking in purpose lately.
Ape Escape

Is Nintendo unaware of anti-aliasing or is that a sacrifice they are willing to make for higher framerates and are you happy about that?
Trails/Kiseki thread.
Nope. Only Alisa's smile
>celdric is literally Patrick now
Wtf went wrong
I really want to play these games... but Trails in the Sky feels really heavy and dated.
Can it be skipped? Or should I knuckle it out to get to the other games?
>get to the wolf cave stage
>codec call from the colonel
>"snake you really should use the night vision goggles, ask emmerich where they are"
>oh ok
>call emmerich
>"yeah they're at the lab, just go get them lol"
>ok then
>try to go back through the commander's office
>LMAO U CAN'T FUCKING GET THROUGH HERE ANYMORE DON'T WANT TO KEEP A LADY WAITING!!1!!11!!1!

Will you buy Nokia's new game /v/?
http://gematsu.com/2017/06/digimon-story-cyber-sleuth-hackers-memory-details-chitose-imai-nokia-shiramine-agumon-gabumon-territory-battle-quests
I already bought Nokia's game and while it was fun, this looks like the same shit again.
I think I stopped playing Cyber Sluts after that mission where you investigate the urban myth of some weird Otherworld in Akihabara if you walk down a bunch of streets and meet each other in the middle.
It was fun and well made but other than being a Digimon Game and Yausda Art there wasn't really anything else to keep my attention.
Combat meh and the writing was pretty bad.
>>381432554
depends. are they finally gonna replace chaosduke.mon with the real thing?
