EVO removes 'no coaching' rule, adds stage trespassing regulation; Hungrybox's reaction captured on live stream
This year's EVO saw something of a hiccup during the top eight play for Super Smash Bros. Melee, as Juan "Liquid|Hungrybox" Debiedma and Zachary "CLG|SFAT" Cordoni were both accused of breaking the tournament's "no coaching" rule... 30 minutes after the match in question.
Debiedma, the reigning champ at the time, received coaching advice from Luis "Crunch" Rosias after the first game of his set with SFAT. As a joke, Gordon "G$" Connell ran up pretending to coach SFAT in an attempt to mock Crunch.
Hbox went on to win the set, and nothing was said by players or tournament organizers about the coaching moves that were made. About a half hour later, head EVO organizer Joey "Mr. Wizard" Cuellar tweeted out, "Since both players violated the rules, the match will stand. Had only HBox violated the rules, he would have been [disqualified]."
This led to quite a bit of controversy in the Smash community, as members took to social media to vehemently debate whether or not Hbox (who eventually finished third in the tourney) should have been disqualified.
Earlier today, Cuellar amended the EVO rule list with a few updates to coaching and stage presence.
Hungrybox, who was live streaming when he heard the news, had very few words, (mainly expletives) but a fairly emotional reaction:

It fucking pisses me off that Evo has to "clarify" this rule between friendly bants between players. Fucking EVO. Rule is just made just to pick on Smash community again.
Sometimes, I wonder why we even cater putting Smash in there when the Smash community clearly doesn't need this sham of a tournament.

Nintendo home consoles have always been smash-and-dash cash grabs targeting casuals & non-gamers who don't understand how shit Nintendo consoles are. Nintendo marketers cling to the '>le n64 nostaliga' redditor crowd for this reason, pandering to people more infatuated with the IDEA of having nostalgia for Nintendo from a bygone area to realize how horrible the N64 actually was with it's pathetic library of games.
Nintendo chases this audiences because nobody else will give them money.
Third party developers also hate Nintendo and have been trying to make Nintendo consoles fail since abadonding them prior N64. Nintendo is unreliable as a platform insteading of advancing in power each generation they go backwards and expect developers to jump through hoops to make games for their systems. The Switch requiring two different versions of the same game running at different settings on last generation Nvidia shield hardware is simply the latest example.
Developers choosing to boycott Nintendo systems have lead to the historical the lack of games for Nintendo consoles.
Nintendo customers are there to be gouged and are charged heavily for their involvement with the companies products, wether it is paying $300 for an outdated last generation Nintendo branded Nvidia shield with no games to paying $70 for a functional controller to $60 ports to cornering the nostalgia-wannabe crowd with plug&play rom consoles and grinding them down with artificial demand, sclaping and scracity tactics to locking hardmodes and features behind physical DLC amiiibo toys to $30 for ethernet adaptors to requiring a literal smartphone, proprietary headphones and a audio bypass just to use a basic feature like voice chat on your latest $300 tablet with no third party support, it's clear the Nintendo ecosystem is a learning experience as to what company to avoid when gaming, Nintendo.
