The Thing is a terrible game,The Xbox and contemporary PCs couldn't handle detailed fleshy models so you ended up fighting what looks like low-polygon brownish-pink lumps. It's repetitious, the combat and level design is poor, bosses are truly shitty, and it's generally badly-designed.

The infection mechanic is pointless and it's annoying NPCs will undergo scripted transformations 30 seconds after they pass a blood-test.

I personally like things on a medium that they're best suited to; Lovecraft does not translate to another medium as well as written word, Dark Souls couldn't be a book or comic or movie.

Play to the strengths of the medium you have, and you will get a good product. Say to yourself, 'What separates ______ from every other medium?", and then use that difference to nuance plot/story.

This is a novelty of a game. I remember playing it when it first came out and thinking it was way better than it really was.

Had a ton of potential. One of the few games that could easily benefit from a remake or a kickstarter.

NES top NES Toploader got rid of AV for just RF.

SNES to SNES JR got rid of superior Sony sound chip.

GCN revision got rid of component out and removable logo Jewel.

Wii revision got rid of GCN playback ability, and then Wii mini got rid of S-Video, Component, and pretty much everything else.

Prepare for a bruising if it's your first one. The alternative is Portable 3rd, which has a whole bunch of QoL additions.

If its your fist one I´d go with Portable 3rd (download the PS3 ISO which is just the PSP game with better textures).

Portable 3rd has less content, but looks better, its more polished and improves a lot of hitboxes.

Also it has Zinogre and Barroth which are fun as fuk.
