No, Dungeon Crawlers with a proper battle system that take place during the apocalypse. I was going to knock at Persona 3 onwards about butchering the dungeon crawling aspect of SMT but then I remembered that SMT4 threw that out the window as well.

I used to think MonHun couldn't get any worse with the underwater fights, but then they introduced je suis monte and anime moves and I knew it was all over from there

It's been awhile since I played, but make sure you look up which chests are the "forbidden 4 (5?)". I don't know if they're changing it in the remaster but basically a really rare weapon can be gotten guaranteed if you don't open certain chests throughout the game, otherwise you'll have to get it off like a 1% chance drop or something.

There are also some missable items but I don't know if someone has made a complete list of those or not.

I think this might be like the Knights of the Old Republic games, which were "turn-based" in how the combat system actually worked, but presented itself as continuous action where everyone was doing all their stuff simultaneously.

Actually come to think of it I'm kind of surprised more games didn't copy their gameplay style, it honestly looked pretty cool.
