Ok so I'm interested in getting into the Thief series. I've heard the most recent one lacks a lot of the charm. But the first one feels really dated and sort of hard to get into.
How should I proceed? Is there mods? Or should I start on 2? Or what? Thief thread.

I've started with 2, then played Deadly Shadows.
Storywise, you'll get what's going on because 2 takes its time to start with the plot but it will clue you in what happened in the previous game when it's reached that point.
Deadly Shadows, while not as good, is still very much a Thief game when it comes to the level design of the mission objectives, and it concludes the trilogy with one of its best areas.
I still plan on finishing 1, but for me it failed to hook me in. With 2, I was engaged the moment I stepped through the door of a mansion in the first mission. The game is unbelievably good in conveying the feeling of you being a competent thief and a stalker in the shadows who can knock guards unconscious left and right, but otherwise are worth dick when you're caught and forced into combat. Don't get caught.

1080p was probably always the target, it was just down to optimization for the hardware. Splatoon already ran at 720p on Wii U and Switch has a faster GPU so there was no reason for it not to run at a higher resolution.

I'm fed up /v/. All these games on PSN and I have lost interest in everything. Every game looks the same and demands that you commit your life to it (if you even want to understand the story, at least). I've found that the more realistic the game is, the less I want to do with it. I played games growing up because they looked cool, not real. Anyone else feel the same?
Also, recommendations on a PS4 game to get into (one that won't suck my soul and wallet dry) besides Paladins

Last week, Peerless Steel (and major steel and aluminum vendor supplying the machining industry here in metro Detroit) had a big customer appreciation BBQ lunch, which included a raffle for all kinda stuff and I filled out a ticket, not expecting to win anything but today I got call from them to come pick up my new XBOX ONE Minecraft Edition 500GB/Go video game (which appears to be worth $250!).
Now I’m 49 years old and haven’t played video games since the 1990s (Tom Clancy’s Rainbow 6 and Age of Empires PC games) so I’m not hip to what’s out there and am looking for some suggestions for cool video games (it comes with three Minecraft games) and any other pointers I ought to know.
I'll also mention that I've got a 15 year old nephew who has an XBOX and a WEE and some other kinda video game I believe, so he'll be helping me set it up (and kicking my ass six ways to Sunday) but I don't want to come across as a decrepit old fart, so any appropriate video gaming lingo and such you can drop on me would be appreciated.

Who prefers these pieces of shit over a controller? These two are mine, one works for both ps3/ps4 and the SFxTekken one works for both 360/Bone and they both suck dick.
Feels like more work done awkwardly. A controller is so much better for dashing and hitting those tricky Zs. I could see if I used one for 5 years straight maybe but I see no reason too.
Anyone else prefer this garbage over a controller? Why?

Pretty much confirms that SEGA was just testing the waters with Valkyria Chronicles first, and now gave us Vanquish and Bayonetta since VC did well.
Seeing as Vanquish and Bayo supposedly did well too, it's only a matter of time until we get Yakuza and Persona.

Why does Japan always have good UI? It's always clear on what things do and intuitive. Whereas in Western games you get over complicated menus to sift through, specifically Western RPG's. UI is important because of presentation but American developers haven't gotten it down.
