Game Informer went to Game Freak's HQ recently and interviewed the developers, they managed to get some interesting info about the company, the Pokémon franchise and their relationship with Nintendo. Here are some of the things I didn't know, maybe you did, but I didn't:
- Iwata was a super programmer, a true coding genius, according to the developers that worked on the early titles, but, as far as they remember, he only helped with the localization process of Gold and Silver to America, contrary to the urban legend that says he himself coded the second area of GS into the game. Apparently, the japanese version had already been completed when he started to help with Gold and Silver.
- One of the main producers of Ruby and Sapphire was sure the game would fail back then, he thought no one cared about the franchise anymore and even had a nightmare the night before release regarding the failure of RS
- They said they have a good relationship with Nintendo but that Nintendo has no influence upon their work
- One of the interviewers asked "technically, could a Pokémon title be released on the PS4/Xbox One/PC, considering the way the IP ownership is split?" and one of the producers said "Yes, we could launch a Pokémon title there, but Nintendo are good friends"
- The developers said the old creature designs had more angular eyes, as opposed to the more circular eyes of today, due to hardware limitations of the Gameboy
- They said they pretty much take exactly 3 years to develop Pokémon games now and that they just started hiring more people to help with Pokémon for the Switch, which leads to speculation that the game won't be out until at least 2019/2020
- they also reiterated that they don't release Pokémon titles early in a console's life cycle, because they want to wait until more people own the current console
Thoughts, /v/?
I'm thinking why do we even have /vp/ board?
>>386831409
Is Pokémon not a videogame franchise?
>>386831315
>eyes because of limitation
I don't believe them, it was clearly sugimoris artstyle back then. Just make a game with more of that artstyle sugi!
We're going to die soon...
>>386830776
Smash Bros is a better game than HL2 and we have BotW now.
>>386830776
law of diminishing returns
but there's no doubt games 10 years from now will look a lot better
>hl2 is 13 years old
>goes third party
>doesn't make a single GREAT game by themselves
how?

>>386830676
Get used to it, Sega is Nintendo's future.
>>386830728
not an argument
So, this is shit, right?
>>386830563
yes
>>386830563
Yep.
This "hero" genre trend needs to die. I blame mobas.
I'm looking for a game like Progress Quest but interactive.
Just look at the game http://progressquest.com/play/
I want something like that, but where I control the character, decide what to grind and actually do stuff, not just watch it do it for me. I want to grind, get levels, unlock stuff, get better and better loot etc..
Thanks.
>>386830303
I ain't clicking that shit nigga.
In any case, many RPGs and JRPGs especially let you grind a lot.
Disgaea series is often regarded as one of the worst (or best, depending on how you look at it) cases of a grindan simulator.

runescape
>>386830303
There are, like, thousands of RPGs, dude.
>two of the absolute greatest video game developers from the late 90s/early 2000s are now nothing but shells of their former selves
how does this make you feel /v/?
>>386830302
pretty good
>both companies spent 25 years firing all of their programmers, artists, and composers
>you can find old staff from capcom and konami in newly founded companies or working for their competition such as namco
feels like business as usual
>>386830552
yeah but all those franchises you love are still in their hands so it's not a good thing

>“It’s something we would love to make happen, something we are trying to make happen," Clark says. "I think we want it to happen as much as anybody out there. Yes, it’s a serious task and it’s not a task that we’re not working on, if that makes sense. It’s something we’re actively pursuing.”

HD 1 and 2 before 3 releases.
Speaking of Shenmue how well does it run on emulators? I've been wanting to replay the game for years but I've sold my Dreamcast a long time ago.
Why did HAL abandon Adeleine and Ado?
Will we EVER see either of them again?
>>386829045
her creator Shinichi Shimomura got killed by Sakurai
>>386829045
>and
>either of them
Her creator/director of the games she appeared in stopped being involved with the series, so there was no creative force for pushing her, and it was from a period when Kirby was still allowed to be experimental, before it found its little groove in tone, style, and cast. So she was never cemented as a core member of the main cast, while Meta Knight got to be since he was prominent in the anime, Kirby Air Ride, and Nightmare in Dream Land.

They're the same character and Ado is a nickname

So this would be 9.95 on sale for PS Vita, any experiences ?
Ive plaid some on pc, but was a bit worried how it would work on psv.
Unacceptable frame rate issues. Do not buy.
>>386828796
this plus the aiming is tucked even at max settings
>>386828712
DO NOT buy this on Vita, it's unforgivable as a port.
Please for the love of god do not buy this. It would be worth it if it were free JUST to see how bad it is.
This game is pretty fun.
Never expected it to run fluidly AND look decent on my 2010 toaster but it does.
>>386828463
I had a lot of fun with it too. It's a shame it barely got any attention.
Shards of Darkness or whatever was better in everyway
>>386828545
I'm only playing it for the first time and just finished the first "chapter". Should I start over and try to ghost through on the first playthrough or should I just kill everything in sight?
Also, what difficulty should I play on, hard or goblin? I feel like goblin dumbs down the game because it encourages save scumming while removing combat and reducing the number of occasions where you just run and hide, i.e. work around your fuckups.
nintendo fans havent had a good game since 1985, prove me wrong.
>>386828360
I don't feel like it.
