I thought Kojima of all people would have known better. His earlier games were excellent and the first is a masterpiece. I never liked Peace Walker though, that game kinda sucked. It's a shame to see what's become of the franchise, I was hoping his final game would have been a return to form but from what I've read it just might be the very worst.

A bit overrated, but still fine as a game.

This, on the other hand
>play game, expecting a well-written plot hidden underneath something that uses cutesy Pokemon as main characters
>only three characters matter in the main storyline
>one is a mute, one is constantly dragging you down and is an unlikeable pain to be around, and one is generic stoic shonen hero who wasn't really the villain (what a twist)
>the rest of the cast is what amounts to a horrible checklist of anime cliches
>first half of the game has you fucking around until suddenly things get overly dark just because
>stoic guy's sacrifice doesn't mean shit because he was cardboard through and through
>hero's sacrifice doesn't mean shit either because he gets brought back two seconds later
>any loose ends get handwaved as "Darkrai did it"
>entire postgame plot is the same random nonsense as the main plot's first portion, along with Darkrai telling you to kill yourself just to be dark for the sake of it
>Special Episode 1 and 3 revolve around the anime cliche cast and hardly makes them out to be good characters, 4 revolves around literal whos
>Special Episode 5 revolves around stoicman, but hardly expands on the post-apocalyptic setting of the future. Darkrai doesn't show up despite his goal being achieved in this time period. Ending makes stoicman's sacrifice even more pointless since he was okay all along
>Special Episode 2 was fine
Being better than the main games' plot doesn't mean much if it still sucks.
