It's really fucking fun. DMC1 was "originally a Resident Evil" which you can sort of feel slightly. DMC2 I'll warn you, is probably the worst one, aside from Dante's outfit everything in there is arguably worse with DmC possibly being better.

DMC3 and 4 are cool and fast paced, and reward you for doing tricky flashy shit, almost like a fighting game but single player only. 1 3 and 4 give a nice balance and all feel a little different from eachother.

Just don't play ANY PC port of DMC3 for the love of god

Black Mesa was destroyed at the end of half life 1 as well. Opposing force was confirmed non-canon by valve. It doesn't matter any way though, since valve doesn't make games anymore.
