Nah its not like DF at all. More like SaGa. Game doesnt explain much, go search all game mevhanics online first and google about how grinding screws you over. Get PC version, its much better. Doing all sidequests will lock you into a harder final boss, make a backup save because I did that on the 360 and had a final boss I could not beat due to grinding. Its really a fun game if you like early xbox/ps3 JRPGs. The world in this game is awesome.
