In 1898, the Georges Melies film "The Astronomer's Dream" came out. It is one of the first films ever. Smaller films existed before but for easy math I selected this one to represent the beginning of film.
In 1958, Tennis for Two was created in what is often considered the first video game.
So, if we do 2017 - 1958, we see that gaming is about 59 years into it's medium.
So 1898 + 59 = 1957
The top film in 1957 was "The Bridge on the River Kwai:" a story of POWs captured by the Japanese and forced into hard labor to build a bridge, while the Allies plot to blow it up.
That long into the medium of film, filmmakers were creating works the caliber of "The Bridge of the River Kwai"
What is "The Bridge of the River Kwai" of gaming, in 2017?
shit comparison really cause video games didnt really exist until 15 years after your example

Obviously Puyo Puyo vs Tetris
>three playable characters
What were they thinking?
I liked it. It allowed me to act differently for each character, and not break "immersion". I could go to a drive-by on other niggas with Franklin, go muddin in the hills with Trevor in a tricked out truck, and fuck prostitutes then dump them off a pier with Michael.
>>386356886
Trevor ruined the game. Prove me wrong.
>switch character
>wait a few minutes
>switch back
>all of your customization for that character are now gone
if it wasn't for this I wouldn't mind as I can just neglect the other two characters.
>he plays anime fighters
>when real fighters like SF already moved on to using 3d models on a 2d plane
3d models on a 2d plane isn't anything spectacular, graphics are just a frontend to what's going on within the engine
>>386356930
>3d models on a 2d plane isn't anything spectacular
Bullshit, have you seen how good SF V looks?
>>386357127
you're not seeing what i'm saying
the novelty of being restricted to 2d movement is not a novelty
it was even done in smash bros
do you think working with 3d models begets automatic requirement to have 3d movement or the graphics don't work so easily? no
any PROGRAMMER would know that
and i learned to program 3d graphical routines by hand in college
chinese
And Jamaican?
They all taste good

Why did you let them win?
Fuck off, OP. Stop making this shitty thread.

>Bastion is so bad that if you even pick him the team assumes your trolling
>they will never buff him
>>386356034
He only got bad when retards thought he wasn't good
>They gave him a unneeded buff
>They nerfed him to where he was worse than where he was before the buff
>t. bronze shitter
learn how to coordinate with a team, pick him in the right maps/gamemodes, and don't just stay in your fucking turret mode, move around and kill shit. He's great.
How is he bad?
He's a S76 that can self heal more efficiently
Are Hylians more similar to humans or elves?

thoughts on Titanfall 2?
I've been itching for a new shooter lately and this didn't cross my mind until last night. downloaded the trial, had a lot of fun playing the campaign, but there wasn't an option to try out multiplayer, which is really what I'm looking for.
buy it. git gud.
>>386354628
I mean, getting gud is always the goal.
I'm going to play through the campaign again and really focus on the gameplay, just to help solidify my decision.
>>386354409
The campaign was not bad, better than the last CoD. It kinda ended in the same way though but the journey was more fun. I think the wall running puzzles annoying but kind of fun as it's own thing. Graphics a re nice.
Remember when we laughed at that one game that had a 6 hour campaign. This is the 6 hour campaign that feels like it's 6 hours too long.
can we have a DEX vs STR thread?
Sure, why not
Can we have a thread about failing to make contact?

>Larry, Curly, and Moe at the end.
I still laff.
>Nintendo of old
>makes a sequel in two years to push their new console
>content of first game practically trippled
>new mechanics add more depth to the game
>14 new characters on top of the returning 12
>26 new stages and 3 returning ones
>redone arcade mode so the giant melee isnt always DK, multi melee isnt always kirby, yoshi, and polygons/wireframes, and iron melee isnt always metal mario
>brand new additions like adventure mode, all-star, events, and expanded multi-man melee
>modifiers with special melee
>trophy system
>lots of quality of life improvements and hidden secrets like Crazy Hand, Giga Bowser, and special trophies
>all on launch for $50
>game is treated as a complete product
>Nintendo of new
>makes a sequel in two years to push their new console
>launches with three more stages (8) than the first game launched with (5), yet the first game had 16 stages by the end of it's updates
>adds only one new weapon class at launch for a total of 8 classes but only 48 total weapons as of now where the first game had 7 weapon classes with over 90 weapons by the end of it's updates
>campaign formula is largely unchanged and even includes two rehashed bosses
>there are no quality of life improvements compared to the first game such as being able to skip the DJs each time you start the game or being unable to change loadouts while waiting for matches or even in matches
>paid online when the first game didn't require a fee
>$60 on launch when even the first game was $30 in some regions
>game is treated as a service where most of the "free" DLC is adding old content isntead of new
What the fuck happened to Nintendo?
>What the fuck happened to Nintendo?
You cherrypicked exactly one example

All of the Sakurais out there are long gone because of all the bs surrounding this and a lot of other industries for the last 2 generations or so.
Plus they know they can get away with it.

Make no mistake: The reason this game is not being released in the U.S. is because Capcom is terrified it will outperform World and get everyone demanding a Switch version of that.
