Can we talk about the more obscure Castlevania games for a bit? Everyone knows all about the big ones, but these ones are ignored.

Curse of Darkness is really interesting. It revisits a familliar setting in III, and adds to the lore, showing us that some humans worked with Dracula. The concept of a Devil Forgemaster is pretty neat. The characters are pretty neat, and Saint Germain is obviously meant to be a recurring character.

For the actual gameplay, it's like Devil May Cry, but sloppy. And the world just feels like this big endless slog, instead of exploring and progressing. The Innocent Devils seem kinda pointless too, as they're just AI partners.

The style, setting, characters are pretty cool, and it's a shame that Konami decided to reboot the series instead of making more 3D Castlevanias in this style. The PS2 games are needlessly ignored by the fanbase.

The PS2 games were attempts at making Symphony of the Night style 3D games. but they're really cheap, and the gameplay is a bit sloppy. They have art designs by Kojima, and produced/written by Iga.

You almost, sorta feel like what a true Symphony of the Night sequel would be in 3D on that. But it's not quite there.

Legends was too raw mechanically and the one 3D X game was just a 2D game stretched into 3D. Series change when making the jump to 3D for a reason.

Mega Man X7 is a legitimately bad game that killed the series after the disasterpiece of X6. Made Capcom give up with X8
