Am I wasting my time learning C#?
I was learning C# for Unity but now I'm considering using MonoGame. I also want to learn C++. Besides making a game, I do want to be a professional programmer. I'm currently in community college. Should I just learn C++ and make my own 2D game engine?

Writing your own engine in cpp would probably be more impressive on a resume and c# is not super popular in the industry. You could certainly have a higher quality product in less time using unity and all its features/documentation tho

I can't comment specifically on platformers - I've never really liked them, so I've never really played many of them and thus wouldn't consider myself qualified to make a good judgement as to what is 'hard' and what isn't - but yeah, that sounds about right.

It doesn't have shit on Rondo but it's still a fantastic game. For my money I'd rather play Castlevania 4 than Bloodlines.

at least it's not 3 where some of the level design is so bullshit unfair that even the best players would rather skip over it with Alucard.
