It's really good. It's got this semi-Metroidvania like design, where you have to backtrack, uncover hidden secrets, and memorize the layout of the game. It's basically Resident Evil 4 but better.

Well, it's still a neat principle.

And no, in general. Playing video games will not make your kid smarter. There are some games which could do so, but "video games" in general will not.

And it isn't as if playing video games just makes you smart. Rather, they can make learning entertaining and into a game, and they can entice curiosity to promote future learning. Stuff like Carmen Sandiego or even Puzzle Agent can prompt kids into learning stuff on their own. Some games like My Word Coach aren't much of a "game", but can make educational activities a lot more fun to do than just studying pieces of paper.

But major AAA titles are a terrible place to look.

I always thought of Hammerheads as the Lashers of destroyers. Good as support but if you slap safety overrides on it is can go on a fucking rampage, and it's relatively easy to get the weapons for it.
But sunders with 3 mining blasters + safety overrides I find a lot more fun because you just deal so much fucking damage.

Just don't make direct sequels.
Demon's, Dark 1, and Bloodborne were good. But both Dark 2 and 3 weren't as good. If they're going to make more, make them more unique with a new setting.

I started the Souls franchise about four years ago and I'm currently working on my first BB run. I want more. I wouldn't mind either new DLC for BB, BB2, any sort of remaster of Demon's Souls, or a new approach to the franchise. Maybe another one-off game like BB but with a new flavor? I'd love to play a game by From where you fight cryptids and country-specific folklore

It was quite inovative, but as time went on, became slightly formulaic, however the average quality of the games is so far above your standard AAA title that I think they should keep making more, even if it is formula at this point.
