What is it with somewhat obscure games getting a sequel and suddenly forcing in elements that have nothing to do with the original?

Dead Space 2 was still good but it turned into a shooting gallery towards the middle and end.

When I played Dead Space 1 for the first time I couldn't even get around a fucking corner because a single Xeno seemed like a huge threat.
