The game might appear generic at first but it opens up a lot when you get a castle and start recruiting people. Stick with it because even though it looks extraordinarily dated, it's a good game with a wonderful story that carries on in some ways in the sequel, and the sequel won't seem as good unless you have some context from the first

You can just jump to the 2nd. The first one is awesome if you played it young, kinda bad if you play it later. Soul Eater is definitely sexier than Bright Shield, and 1 has the better start scene.

In my opinion, yes. I think the story is fantastic. Be sure to play in order because #2's controls are better so if for some reason you played 2 first you might not want to play the 1st afterwards.

A plot that gets less coherent each game, but the gameplay manages to keep holding up for the particular games included in the collection.

Never played a Duke Nukem Game, which one should I start with.

Get eduke32 and duke3d.grp to play it.
After that you can go with Duke Caribbean (a duke3d expansion) or play the TPS like Zero Hour or Time To Kill.
DukeII and Manhattan Project are also good,and avoid Critical Mass.

I think you have to bomb the floor and a pillar rises up, if not then wall jump.
