Another random VR shit. Except you're on a wheelchair which solves literally every problem there is on a game design point of view.
I'd love to see a horror game based on gangstalking and gaslighting
When was the last time a video game blew your mind, destroying all your fears and exceeding all your expectations ?
I think for me it was Metroid Prime 1. I also liked MP2 and 3 but damn the 1st one was built from the ground. When it came out on Gamecube, I was not prepared to face such a piece of work. I was sure that these random Retro Studio guys couldn't capture the soul of a Metroid game in a FPS. I couldn't be more wrong I guess. This game is a masterpiece.
These last days, I think Bully (yeah I did it a bit late, but for me it was much more fun than GTAV for some reason), Dishonored 2, BotW, and Furi, were all far FAR better games than what I was expecting. Not necessarily MP1-tier, but still very good contenders in my heart.

BotW's first hours were pure bliss. Scavenging ganon's castle for loot with 4 hearts and seeing how accessible the area was (even though everyone instakilled me) made me piss rainbows. Of course the magic faded away in time, but it was the first "open world" game in a long time which got my attention for 80-100 hours and enjoyed almost every bit of it.
>>382122368
Breath of the Wild, I guess. It's usually Nintendo because they experiment a lot with their games. Games from other companies are usually "standard" for the lack of a better word, stuff you've seen before.
AM2R. It's a fan game but it has such a premium level of polish. The levels and bosses kept surprising me. Really enthralling action game.
Ico blew me away. The puzzles are so well-balanced. The AI never frustrated me. I actually felt fearful when the AI partner would be attacked while I was in another area. Drop-dead gorgeous atmosphere. The final hour is perfection.

Dead gaem
The gravity ruins the soloist FPS gameplay
And the chicks look ugly
And unreal 4 looks nice but there is to much shot on the screen
Post a game you absolutely love but can admit has flaws to its design.
Dark Souls 3 for me.
The world design is very linear and after a few new games it becomes almost routine going through the game without new ways to explore the world.

I don't think this is what happened but it is true that he just wanted to see this series to an end with this one. You can clearly see it with everything that was happening. Nothing was truely innovative in terms of story telling. It was mostly just "i have to keep it in the same vein i can't deviate too much" rehashing.
It did produce a game with some of the best moments in gaming history period.
With MGSV it seemed like he already knew he was going to tear off that Konami leech.

Would you prefer Season 4 or KI4?
This was an Xbox One launch title. The game lasted and was supported for the entire Xbox One's life, so kudos to it for going as long as it has. That said, it's pretty clear the game is tapped out and Eagle will be the last character. If they do another Killer Instinct, it'll be in a revamped system. Granted, the system they have right now is incredibly unique and offers a good middle ground between Street Fighter and anime, with some of the most unique characters you've seen in fighters. The fact that the game is now coming to Steam is the game's last real exposure to the market.
Killer Instinct had a good run, and it's good to see it perform as well as it did. I would have no regrets if they retired the game and didn't do season 4.
>>382120560
While I agree there would be the risk of them somehow fucking up KI with a KI4 I really think they should keep up the momentum and make a second. The game was continually growing a passionate community. Evo was growing year over year and despite the Xbone selling like shit in Japan there were still some really dedicated Japanese fans. I just hope they continue it somehow since it really does fill a niche in the market like you said that other fighters just can't. I really hope the Steam release is a sign that they're just trying to introduce more and more people to KI before announcing KI4.
>>382120560
>some of the most unique characters you've seen in fighters
I can't stress that one bit enough. To Killer Instinct's credit, every character feels legitimately different from each other, a strong identity for every fighter (even pseudo-clones like Shadow Jago, Kilgore and Shin Hisako). As well, the characters have individual mechanics you really don't see in other fighters (ARIA swapping bodies, Aganos managing rocks and barriers, Kan-Ra as a whole, etc).

The Halo General in /vg/ died today. It's been on life support for the last few weeks and has already died before this in the last 10 days.
Whether it stays dead or if someone makes yet another one, I don't know, but this was the only Xbox-brand oriented general on that board and now it's gone.
I think it's fair to say Halo's popularity is a shell of its former self, but why? Surely the answer is more complicated and systematic than just "343 industries" or sonething like that.
It's a mix of multiple things all happening in succession. Think of it as a perfect order of disaster events aligning just right.
To generalize though, the two biggest contributing factors were the rise of call of duty and the Halo series' response to it.
Halo is not a popular series anymore. It hasn't been for some time. It's supported on namw recognition alone. A VERY small portion of the original fans still play the new games, and they're only getting older.
Meanwhile, virtually none of the newer generation is taking up the series. This is something you absolutely need to maintain a healthy playerbase on consoles. Kids today don't even know what Halo is. All they know is they're not interested in it.
