What does /v/ think of this game? Personally it's fucking amazing imo, and the oversized sword element is OP.

Hol up, family. The game skyrocketed in price after FROM Software started to become popular. While I'm glad that it's still available, $31.19 is far too much to pay for a NES Zelda simulator.

That has got to be bullshit. <60fps is unironically and literally unplayable.

Why'd they have to fall for the open world meme? Why couldn't they have gone the roguelike route? The crumbly weapons, simple puzzle systems and enemy variety would've fit right in.
Stick Link in a village with a house to stockpile cool loot, comfy minigames between dungeons, and magic doors(or something more creative) to different levels of randomized dungeons.
>>379078930
If they did that they would have made a shit game instead of the best game in decades.
> randomized dungeons

Procedurally generated landscape of AA quality hasn't been done well yet (No Man's Sky?).
I actually have a theory that next Elder Scrolls will be like this.
They've been chasing Minecraft lately, and focusing on Radiant AI/quests, and they have history with it from the first two games.
It would require a new engine, though, and Bethesda seems incapable of making one.
So i've been playing this for an hour (maybe even over an hour) and I still haven't fought any fucking monsters, people in the village only ask me to go to the Moga Woods, took some Iron Ore, restore somethings, talk to someone in the farm etc, is the beginning really that slow?
Also, the controls feels really clunky and strange, I don't know if it's because it's a 3ds game, but all i've seen was praise for the movements, the combat and the controls, so far nothing looks really outstanding. The camera is also a little strange, but maybe I'm just no used to it.
Lastly, the game really throws you in and explains shit about some mechanichs, right? Like I don't know how to equip an armor or weapon yet, there's also a lot of stuff like greatswords, longswords, bow etc etc and the game doesn't even bother explaining the differences and all, I'm a little lost here, there seems to also be a way to upgrade weapons and all.
I'll probably still play much more of the game because everyone praises it and the trailers are really nice, but it hasn't been a very good first impression so far. Put my fears to rest /v/ please.
>>379079134
>Also, the controls feels really clunky and strange
Can you describe what you mean by strange?
>>379079134
If the game tried to explain all those differences to you, you'd get an enormous infodump right at the beginning of the game. And you already get a lot of dialogue in that game.
Just give it time and play slowly. You'll figure out most of the mechanics with experience and those that you don't, you can just read up later on.
The controls are just a matter of getting used to it. Just keep playing and when you finally start kicking big monster ass, you'll realize how good those games are.

I think I'm just too accustomed to Dark Souls.
So this entire game is basically about looking for Ciri? Or is there more to it? I don't understand how I am supposed to be interested in the events. You know that most of the leads you follow initially are useless.
>>379078924
If you were to split the game into fifths,
3/5 would be looking for Ciri
2/5 would be the rest of the story
>>379078924
It's all about the journey etc etc
>>379079387
I'd put it the other way around. If you add in the DLC it's about 1/5 looking for Ciri 4/5 side quests
Just a weekly reminder there is nothing wrong with story driven games or playing games for the story.
>HURR WHY NOT WATCH A MOVIE THEN!
Because dear anon the interactive element enhances the experience in a way conventional film cannot.
>enhance
that's the thing, good games disregard narrative and focus on themselves as experiences that surpass linear storytelling, if you want a movie that's okay but don't set the medium back decades just because you can't handle pure gameplay.
>>379078490
Games are supposed to deliver narrative through gameplay, which itself is a pretty retarded term. What's next: bookread? moviewatch?
I challenge you to tell me in what way abzu is a game

So, what PS4 should I buy - PS4 Slim or Pro?
I don't have 4k tv, I actually play my XO on19 inch 1366x768 PC monitorand I would use PS4 with it too (plus I'd like to buy PSVR one day for it too)
Would it be really worth it to buy better version for me?
Buy a proper PC if you haven't got one already. Cheaper, more versatile, upgradeable system.
If you still got too much money to burn, get PS4 Pro. No, the 4K TV is not a requirement, the console does NOT output REAL 4K in any game at the moment, and you actually benefit more on a lower res screen more, as you can play on the "high performance" mode, which is practically 1080p @ 60fps in most games, with AA effect resulted by minor downsampling.
Regular PS quadros already suffer to keep up even steady 30fps at 900p nowadays
>>379078238
PSVR would benefit from the Pro, and if you're ever looking to upgrade your monitor to even 1080p you'll get the visual benefits, as well as some games running at 60fps on the Pro (if I'm not mistaken).
The Slim is by far the most (and only) aesthetically pleasing version of the console, so it's up to you and how you value your money really.
>>379078238
Buy the slim. Pro is a meme
