Why are paid mods bad?
What are the arguments except "I don't want to pay"?
Shit mods, greed, community division
Go Google some writeups, it's been discussed to death.

It's called 'rent-seeking.'
Bethesda's trying to bring it back, but now they're offering 100% compatibility, which is a big plus in their favor. Simply asking money for other people's work is absurd, ownership laws be damned
>>380405193
Because many mods do not make it in quality, many cause severe issues that the modder could not handle in a civil suit.
We have issues with chuckle fucks trying to do kickstarters, imagine every fucking nigger trying to pass off their shitty mod for cash.
Who do you think won this years E3?
Nintendo, hands fucking down.

> Josh Sawyer on the possibility of using the Pillars of Eternity IP for other genres like real time strategy or first person games.
So what do you guys think? Would you play a Pillars RTS or Pillars Elder scrolls game?
No. I just want them to take Deadfire and put it in 3rd person. Sick and tired of outdated isometric crpg's.
One of the prime problems of the game was forgettable and bland setting, at least as far initial expressions go (I didn't end up completing it). Of course, a game can be decent despite its bland setting but I sure as hell wouldn't play PoE RTS/MMO/whatever just because it's PoE.
>>380986153
So a RTWP combat system in 3rd person? That makes no sense. Or do you want it to be 3rd person action game?
Do you trust him, /v/?

of course i dont fucking trust him
Sure why not.
The original Metroid Prime was described in EGM as having "dropped through a wormhole" because the graphics were so ahead of their time for the consoles. Metroid Prime 4 will not accomplish that.
Super Mario 64 and Zelda OoT were some of the very best looking console games out at the time.
New Nintendo releases don't make me feel like I'm exploring new worlds of technology anymore like they used to. And that was something important to me.
>Super Mario 64 and Zelda OoT were some of the very best looking console games out at the time.
not really

That's alright, lots of people are casual faggots.

You guys have to understand the stakes here. This is our last chance to make metroid a commcercially successful IP in the eyes of Nintendo. If it barely gets by commcercially like every other metroid game that came before it (Even super metroid), then its really likely that Nintendo is going to shelve the franchise forever.
I don't care about the vendetta against them for taking down AM2R. You want to know why they took it down in the first place but left it alone during development? Because AM2R wasn't finished. Fan-games get by because they create their own original story with the IP. AM2R was a remake being worked on during a time where Metroid 2 was still being sold on virtual console. They took it down when it was finished because the AM2R team were essentially giving away the entirety of Metroid 2 for FREE. This was never about intellectual property. To them, it was pretty much piracy and illegal distribution.
>>380404704
I like how almost every Nintendo thread is trying to sell games or consoles, or about the company's stocks.
Its so weird. It's like having a cars salesman constantly telling me to get a Switch despite it having nothing interesting, while I have a ton of other shit to play.

>third person bullet sponge endless enemies who do a fraction of the damage you do to them to you, not to mention third person shooters on console are LAUGHABLE
>no hunger, thirst, sleep meters, i bet there wont be disease, and i bet there will be regenerating health, with healthpacks easy to come by, not to mention ammo
>doesnt really inherently improve or detract from the game
>will be barebones a la assassins creed, uncharted, or the last of us
>can almost guarantee it won't be done well, but we'll see
>barebones as FUCK a la the last of us
i was interested after last year's e3 when they said there would be multiple ways to do a level, but now that it's been revealed to just be the last of us: open world, i really could not give less of a shit

>hub world loaded with objectives
>bringing up the map implies a night cycle with alternate missions
>customize mario however you'd like
>talk to civilians
>explore, find nooks, and doors to linear challenges to obtain the collectible
Is this what they meant by revamping both Zelda and Mario?
I'm pretty blown away by this. Compare this risky creative behavior to when they played it safe with 3D Land and 3D World, and all those NSMB games.
This is great news, even if you don't like this type of game. I personally think exploration that leads into linear challenges is perfect, but even if you want only linearity, you have the next linear mario game to look forward to, which out to have a lot of unique ideas thanks to the buzz surrounding this game.
I mean they have mario in a fedora and a sombrero, talking to new yorkers. Or new donkers, I guess.
As a sidenote, I'm glad the positive reception to 3D World and Galaxy's fantastic music is still fueling their drive to not settle for cheap bah-bah music.
>>380404124
Im not a kid so I would get bored of this game after like an hour or two. There is just no challenge in mario games anymore. Mario 64 wasn't exactly hard but it wasn't a breeze like new mario games are now.
>>380404124
>Runs past every interesting looking thing
Still looks fun, but I don't like the markers on the map. They need to look at Breath of the Wild and realize that shit is better left off the map.
So now it's just GTA clone with coins and jumping?

Alright /v/, if you know so much about video games, then answer me this:
Why the fuck is there no casual online racing game with fuck-loads of cosmetics gated through cases a-la TF2/CSGO (they did it first, lads)? It seems to me like it would be a good market to profit from, since you could have lots of categories for cosmetics.
>>380403414
Casual racing is boring and skill cap is retardedly low.
Racing sims are too hard for 99% of people.
There is literally no in between, and both have shit markets for reasons listed above.
>>380403724
Guess they would have to shoehorn some kind of MOBA mechanic in then, huh?

ITT: Games you heard were bad but tried anyway
Pic related. Legendary really is THAT bad, only redeeming features of the game are the monster animations and comical npc deaths. They even had the cheek to sequel bait in one of the worst ending sequences I've seen
>>380983943
I don't actually remember why Legendary is bad.
I thought it was a cool premise
>>380984651
The premise was solid but the gameplay was janky and buggy, and the whole package reeked of being rushed by amateurs.
I remember the first teaser and trailers. Man, I wanted this game to be good so badly.
And then, it came out. I saw a few reviews and never looked back. It looked fucking awful.
