BoI and rogue legacy aren't roguelikes, though they do take a lot of inspiration from them and it's understandable why a lot of people tend to credit them as such
I love going through a brogue or nethack run every once in a while, and if I'm feeling something with a little more time to it I'll fuck around in C:DDA or DF adventure mode

Is CDD:A something that someone that someone that play other roguelikes could get into easily? I would love to try it out but want to know if its something that I need to dedicate some time learning before I start actually playing, or if it will be like going from DCSS to ToME

It's been said a lot already, but if a game isn't turnbased it's not really a roguelike. The way everything in a roguelike flows together is through that turn-based nature. While I think roguelikes do have really great mechanics that work well in lots of genres, a turn based and real time game are very different beasts.

To answer the OP question, I've been playing ADOM with the nice tileset. It's a pretty amazing game I think. I keep dying below level 10, so I'm gonna take a break from it so I don't wear it out. Brogue is next. Can any anons tell me what they like about it? I've just started reading up on it.

Should I buy this game?

There's this dude running an unofficial server, it just got updated to Episode EX 5. The server has a increased material drop rate (x3) so it takes way less time to craft the cards you need.
