A great, truly fun game, which truly revolutionized the series, the genre, and even the fucking industry back in the days. You can still kinda call it a "survival horror", but the pacing is quite different.

Everyone was in love with the free-aim and quick-knife back in the days, and were expecting to get a zombie game with such controls next. It never happened. The sequels get worse and worse, though RE5 is still worth it for the saga's sort-of finale, and brilliant co-op. It's quite shit alone tho'.

They're different but both are good. I personally think Ori is better, because the punt mechanic was fresh and interesting, while HK didn't do anything new really, it was just a polished, quality product.

Hollow Knight, by far. The only thing Ori was better at is graphics and presentation.

Ori is like a cinematic game, it's 5x shorter than HK, filled with these "epic" escape sequences, cutscenes, flashy graphics and an emotional soundtrack.

Hollow Knight is a proper metroidvania.
