I think the free exploration (and more content) of realmyst and its masterpiece edition makes for the best game experience.

Still, the original realmyst looks really dated and while the realmyst masterpiece edition tries to fix this with better textures and shaders, it doesn't look quite right to me.

Realmyst breaks a few puzzles with it's flashlight IIRC, but aside from that is pretty neat.
