dont bother with 1-5 since they require an emulator. They are fun, but should come in after you have some investment.

Dont play on easy. Play on normal and use continues if you want. Easy builds awful habits.

Try DoDonPachi first, it's regarded as one of the best bullet hell games and a good place to start. There's a bunch of other games included as well, such as Darius Gaiden, Battle Garegga, Ketsui, Daioujou, and other great Touhou games.

I think you're reacting to stuff like wind up time on whatever weapons you chose, rather than actual performance difference.
I pretty sure DeS is generally a much quicker game in that department, at least it was for me.

This was why I immediately hated DaS2. Everything is WAY too sluggish for me.

I know exactly what you're talking about. DeS just has a certain smoothness that DaS lacked. I played DeS and DaS when they came out and the moment I gained control of my character in DaS it just didn't feel right. DaS2 was even worse in this regard, I actually didn't even play it for more than a couple of hours because it felt so sluggish and choppy. Thank goodness BB and DaS3 are nice and smooth.

Because Eirika and Celica don't shit up their entire game while Corrin shits up three whole ones.

They had bloodthirsty Boyfriends/Brothers to balance out the pacifism.
