It depends on the type of game you're playing, more hardcore RPGs should not have markers where as a casual RPG it's fine to have them. The best though would be to have both options.

Quest markers only make sense in games with enough technology to handwave it as part of a hud, as long as they only show you generalities of direction and not an all seeing arrow.

I haven't played P5, but NieR wasn't that great either. The combat is trash (literally mash button till enemy is dead or "hack" him to death in the same exact way for 500 times over), the story is pretty neat but nothing spectacular..
I only really liked the music and design.

Why does everybody, especially MMOs ignore the wastness of elemental bending/casting ?
i created this quick wheel to demonstrate what i mean.. just imagine a talent system like this, where you would start off with 1 element, and maybe work your way up to a second endgame. and a select few could actually master 3 or all 4 elements, unlocking the "advanced" elements aswell
