It wasn't until Halo 3 was already out that I was replaying CE and realized that what he said to the Chief in front of the central control panel made no sense. Nigga was rampant and hallucinating way before you even landed on 04.

I've realized that the stressing over other things in life can make video games less enjoyable. The unhappiness can start in one area, and make other things look gray compared to what they used to be. What helps me sometimes is going back and playing a game I remembered enjoying in the past, but not one I've played too many times. That way it can still have that touch of fresh air you need sometimes, but it will also be familiar and comforting.

Mainly when I started browsing /v/ all the time, these days I find a game that engages me and I either 1) stick with it till completion 2) find another game that engages me more or 3) (2) but come back later at some point


also you might want to look into prozac, or just getting outside more... ive been in my room playing pc all day for a while as a NEET and life has never felt so meaningless

They(jack) click baited hard with Sonic and they know it but really all they said about sonic and all they ever say about things they don't like is that they don't see whats good about it, that's their opinion and that's fine.
They also don't like resident evil for completely arbitrary and downright obtuse reasons but are too cowardly to lampoon it like they do with sonic because it's a minority opinion.

Just because you can't aim for shit it doesn't make the character flawed. That said Widowmaker is shit and Snipers are an obnoxious character archetype that really shouldn't exist in shooters in the first place. At least Kinessa is fun. And cuter than Widow.

The core design: Isometric pausable real-time combat, silent protagonist etc. No open world memes or "awesome button" combat or any of such things.

The setting and characters, while very unexpectional, are strongly characterized (say, Oghren is "the drunk dwarf"). This is obviously worse than actually novel and creative world, but tropes and stereotypes are vastly preferable to setting and characters lacking clear identity. You kinda care about stuff in DA:O, as opposed to something like Pillars of Eternity (even if it wasn't for garbage Kickstarter backer fluff water it down even further).

It enjoys the benefits of modernity (native high-resolution support, solid UI and such like) and is a generally polished game with a lot of attention to detail (things like pretty much every NPC treating a returning Dwarf Noble in Orzammar).


Overall, DA:O has no standout features, art, design or content (main story is poor, side quests range from all right to good), but it doesn't have obvious critical weaknesses either which is a strength in its own right, and the style of game the devs set out to make is a fine one.

Difficulty, grimdarkness, visual aesthetics, the 100/10 music, the world/setting. It was BioWare's last truly great game. Dare I say it, it was the last good non-tableop RPG for everyone in the world till this day.
