The resilience, or plainly said, strength of towers makes the game ridiculously and excruciatingly longer, they're a huge safe space and most early strategies revolve around baiting/displacing the enemy under a tower and CCing him to death. Oh wait, it's lol, the concept of displacement is too toxic for the community

While MH4 as a whole is easy in comparison to other MH titles I believe the increased variety in monster design, movement and patterns make it so you have to put a whole lot more of effort to learn each and every one of them to fight them effectively

I feel that most of the 1st and 2nd gen monster are really similar in a way that being really good at hunting one specific monster will also let you be decent against a whole batch of different species
