I'm going to be playing this for the first time since it came out. What mods and other things do you recommend to immerse myself in this world? I want something that will hold my interest for a long time.

Just install the game and all of it's dlc, no mods for the first playthru.
Play on normal, at harder difficulties, the enemies just become bullet sponges, it isn't harder in the slightest, just annoying, and NV has the best balancing in the series
Turn on Hardcore mode
Last, but not least, go to Lonesome Road after you're done with Primm. Don't be turned off by the difficulty curve, trust me, it's worth it in the end, and you will come back there at the end of the game, anyways

For in-game purchases, why do gaming companies make you purchase some shitty in-game currency? Why not just direct cash purchases? or hell even just one currency across multiple platforms?
I hate the idea of purchasing gems or gold or floating orange penises or whatever all the damn time and. Why do companies do this?
I can understand for points you actually earn from playing but why the paid-for currency instead of a direct purchase for something you want? Am i missing something important here?

Nigga they had meh games like LOTR Conquest but they were the b-game people with shit like Mercs and DAH. They even made dlc for BF2 that made BF1 maps playable, made Ventress, and Fisto playable.
