This thread is about the best overall clone games of Super Mario Bros. This doesn't mean 2D sidescroller, but real SMB clones with powerups hidden in blocks can be hit by head, enemies can be stomped, and other typical features.
SMB games include: SMB, SMB3, SML, SML2, SMW, NSMB, NSMB2, NSMB Wii, NSMB U
Some clones I know: Giana Sisters, Giana Sisters DS, Super Marisa Land, Super Marisa World, New Super Marisa Land, SuperTux, Super Angelo, Charlie the Duck (well, sorta) and many crap on handheld.
For me, there are only two games that can be considered worthy clones: Giana Sisters DS and New Super Marisa Land.

Giana DS has brilliant graphics and music, pitch perfect controls, and a perplexing atmosphere where more effort is put on exploration than actual platforming, but still a Mario clone. It should have been better though with more powerup, more original levels,more variety.
New Super Marisa Land is AWESOME! Every Mario fan should play this, as it's every bit as good as the earlier Mario games. Great art style and music, an own identity and many great ideas put in typical Mario-esque environment.
The predecessors (Giana Sisters on C64, Super Marisa Land) are not bad games, they had awesome music, but they lack in some ideas and execution.
Super Angelo, SuperTux and others... try them if you are a completist.
