Because it's fast, fun, and totally ridiculous shit happens all the time. I wouldn't necessarily call it a good game and people will probably forget about it soon, but it's a blast to be thrown onto an island with 100 other people and scramble to kill them before they kill you.

The game is fun to play solo, but playing as a duo or a squad opens up lots of new strategies. You can get matched with random people online and never even have to talk, most players don't mind as long as you're not an idiot.

I recommend starting out solo to get a feel for how the game works.

It's popular because it's pure battle royale combat. Some people complain that it lacks any bells and whistles to make it stand out but this is exactly why it's popular. No crafting shit, no hunger / survival, no microtransactions, just drop on an island with 99 other players and start killing each other.

Solo is fun. Duo and squad are more fun though, for obvious reasons.

Really? That's one of my favorite parts of the game. The music is god tier

I'm just an Ultra Bronze Akuma. I have been for basically ever. I'm happy where I am.

Skill ceiling still feels too low. Watched CEO 2017 Top 8 in person and the Akuma player I observed didn't show me anything that I felt like I wasn't doing myself. I don't see how to get better at this game given the constraints.

Made it to Gold in season 1, stopped playing ranked for the rest of the season, tried again in season 2, and then quit ranked again because Ryu is garbage now and ranked is filled with Balrog players

I was looking forward to Hinata from RS as the next character after Abigail, but that doesn't look to be the case, so I don't give a fuck about the rest of the season. If I can't get a Rival Schools character any time after, Sagat and Makoto are my biggest wants

I haven't played in a while because ever since the patch, matchmaking has been awful and it takes like 30 mins to find one match
