I can't disclose any personal information or provide proof but I have some pretty big news. Apparently this has been in the works for quite some time now since around 2012, but things have become more serious. Hirohiko Araki x Katsuhiro Harada. Yes, that's right these two have been discussing a new fighting game that will be directed by Harada himself. From what I gathered, this isn't going to be another fighting game cross over, but a JJBA fighting game with Harada at the helm. I can't stop thinking about how big this will be and I just had to share it with someone.

Why is it so hard for devs to copy the souls-formula? It's not like it's fucking difficult.

Boss fights in this game are a god damn joke. One hit kills, and chain-combo's out the ass. Zero feedback related to actually damaging the boss, then suddenly, you or it are dead.

Here's a guy you can't actually do anything with until halfway through the game. Here's a girl whos questline you can screw up despite giving her exactly what she asks for.

Sure is awesome when most of them are just overhead walkways, and have no meaningful choices to the gameplay.

The entire game is just spamming dodge into enemies, using the dodge attack, and then dodging out because it's the only way to actually do anything in combat.

Seriously, this is a 3/10 at best. I'm not surprised no one on /v/ is talking about it.

Nostalgia aside, as much as I love the SNES/PS1 classics, surely we can all agree that modern JRPGs are vastly superior to their predecessors, right?

Not only do they tend to have features that the classics lacked (Voice acting, innovative combat systems even for turn-based games), but the writing (both in terms of scenario writing and the dialogue quality itself) are significantly improved nowadays.

Back in the old days, the games used to do really shitty, gimmicky things like make characters "swear" a lot or use really stupid accents in order to try to differentiate characters from each other. Nowadays, we have amazing games like Trails in the Sky with written dialogue that is of such high quality that the characters individual personalities are effectively fleshed out simply through the conversations themselves. That's just one example of a series that does it particularly well, but generally we've seen improvements in that area even in games that are weaker such as Persona and the Tales of series.

Keep in mind, when I say this, I mean serious story-driven JRPGs, not stuff like Neptunia/Atelier/Moe shit in general.

So no phone or pc needed and it automatically tracks via keypoints in the environment. Sounds great for using anywhere but I wonder how well the games could run on a built-in computer.

Personally hope wireless connection to a PC is an option for it.
