Can someone explain to me why /v/ shits on this fight stick so much?
MadCatz never made a good accessory in their lives until fight sticks. Companies change, Mark Julio is with Razer now which is probably why this thing ended up being good.
The design is a moot point because you can change the art on top.

I'm playing it with some friends I played other mmos with. Game is pretty much what you said 3d DFO. It's pretty comfy so far although all the bloat like charms, gems, elements and shit gets a bit confusing with the game explaining nothing to you. Managed to figure it out myself but phew lad.

Is Turn Based Combat in RPGs inherently flawed? I've noticed a lot of people echoing this sentiment recently outside of /v/ on Youtube and such. Does /v/ agree?

People (read: GenZ kids) are just way too used to single, repeated and rehashes molds that plague the industry nowadays. Every major game title seems to play things safe and try to appeal to "wider audiences", meaning endless Cowadooteh / Uncharted clones, now with upgrade trees and shit on top.
tl;dr: if it ain't a shooter or a "cinematic" game, meaning players need to think and learn something new, the Xbox generation hates it.

I'm a freak who enjoys ATB over turn based.
It introduces enough stress so you won't take too long to pick your actions and adds a bit of granularity to the system. Turn based games often feel like they are outright solvable or they rely too much on rng swings to unbalance the optimal plays.

I love the Donkey Kong Country trilogy on SNES, it's my top 3 games on that console unironically, and I also love Retro's Returns games but there are some aspects I don't like and I'd like to have a Donkey Kong Country thread to know wht you know.
One of the biggest aspects of DKC, to me, are the Animal Buddies. The Returns games only really feature Rambi, with Sqwawks as a glorified item, while I feel the under-rated, under-sold Donkey Kong Jungle Beat follows the Country spirit more closely. It has a bunch of new animal buddies, the New Play Control added back the barrel canons, and you can only take 2 hits (this is due lack of Diddy). Not only that, but visually speaking, Jungle Beat looks like a Rare-type game, thanks to it still following Rareware's DKC art direction. JB gameplay also feels TIGHT like the SNES games.
Retro's DKC allows plenty of damage (although mostly justified because that level design is absolutely sadistic), did away with the Tag system (my biggest petpeeve) and the style doesn't take after Retro's games but rather, after PAON's redesigns. As for gameplay, Returns feels.. bouncy. You can even bounce off walls. What do you think? Should the next Returns allow for a tag-partner system or do you preffer Retro's gameplay? Should animal buddies return?HE

Carmack doesn't give a fuck. Hes a high functioning autistic that focused a lot of his autism powers into computer science, 3d technology, and problem solving. (not a slight on the man, hes my hero).

How hard will it be to find a lobby after a week? Is there a UNIEL discord community somewhere or should I just make thread on /v/?
