yes, you can use starting weapons through the whole game, its about what moveset/ playstyle you prefer
personally i think the saw spear and cleaver are shit because their moveset bores me

The cleaver/spear are very good because the damage+stagger and beast meter buildup on the trick attack is godlike, but they're far from the only viable weapon. Maybe you're just switching to the weapons without upgrading them or using them without having good stats for them, but the tonnitrus that you have such a bad taste for has fucking donged bosses for me on an arcane playthrough, for example.

The gossip concept seems like it'll be interesting. Will it only be gossip about the characters your playing as and give some insight to what the villagers actually think of the Sins or will it start at the start of the story with just Melodious and as you complete stages the villagers spread rumors of where the other Sins could be locked up, in hiding, etc.
Its got potential but we need to see more game play. I'm hoping its good though.

Considering the anime its based on is fucking garbage? No
And yes I did watch it. Ban is the only remotely decent character, everyone else is admittedly fun trash but the stakes of the plot are so inconsistently handled that nothing feels like it fucking matters.
