I don't know about gem. But I remember playing this a lot and liking the character concepts and running round giant kitches, bathrooms, gardens etc. The controls were a bit janky iirc.

basically its a top down racing game.

I use to play this game when I was little around 1998 or so which had a duck character and you had to save this singer who got frozen, it was a point and click with story and you could play instruments and it would have the keys similar to guitar hero

you could travel back in time and to other countries to find instruments, it was on the computer as well

idk what the heck it was called. if any of you guys know what I might be talking about that would be super appreciated ;_;

Looking for the title of a PC game from about 1996-1998.

It was a quiz show kinda like Jeopardy that took place in a sci-fi universe (space)

You had different rounds and were trying to take down some evil genius in a bald man that appeared it FMVs

I rmemeber one of the playable characters was a green brain alien with tentacle feet.

Arcade.
A fighting game, probably, but you can shoot. Plays sort of weird in an endless 3D arena you can sort of move in any direction, graphics are sprites though. Amazing background/stage floor graphics.
There are several different characters, one flying about with a jetpack, a robot, and another with a huge robotic arm if I remember correctly.

Just beat this for the first time, it was a lot easier than X or X2, but it was still fun getting to play as Zero. Maybe I'll try his games next on gba...

You should honestly try X5 if you like 4. It's still pretty good. I actually think X6 is great too, but it is a definite jump in difficulty, though it sounds like that isn't an issue for you, so you may like it too.

This game looks right up my alley. I've even contemplated learning Japanese, but it looks like it's more trouble than it's worth.

Game is called Gokinjou Boukentai by the way.

Same sort of gameplay, but different maps and more classes.
It is either a retelling of the first game from Prince Tristan's view or a side story connected to the first game. Not sure.

Came out in 2000. Right on the borderline. I'd say retro myself, as it doesn't play properly on modern PCs without clever tricks or emulation. Many here would probably disagree, because they're stuck in the 80s :p

What is the cheapest Genesis that will work with the Everdrive MD? I want to get a look at the library and the Everdrive MD is pretty cheap, so depending on how cheap I can obtain a system for, I might just do that. Cheapest I've seen so far was a model 2 for 30 bucks.

Model 2 would be a good choice. They average about $30 on CL. You might be able to get a bundle and flip the games. I expect them to start shooting up in price soon as the Nintendo stuff has become prohibitively expensive for many people.

From what I understand Genesis 3 has crummy sound but I never noticed anything on my friends unit when I was a kid.

If you see a broken model 2 that doesn't turn on, it most likely just needs some more solder on the three power joints, it's like a 10 minute fix.

Please, whatever you do, don't get the one that guy's holding on the right. It's a piece of shit SOAC clone made my a third party company that doesn't work properly.

On the contrary it's very clean, but it's mono only apparently.

So I was emulating Playstation 1 for the first time. In fact I've never really played any Playstation 1. I stuck with my 8bit and 16bit consoles and Playstation 1 always seemed too modern. Anways the first ROM I've decided to play was Disney's Herculas because I remember a friend playing it back in the day. I like that it's a 2d platformer. I like that parallax/3d effect and moving to different "layers". What I don't like: The running scenes. It's hard to tell when you are in front of something. What's even WORSE: There are ROCKS in the game that block your way and you have to hit them like 20 times before they fall apart. WHAT THE HELL IS THAT SHIT? Why did they do this? Did they play test the game and came to the conclusion:
>It's not long enough
and some genius had the idea to throw those rocks in there. Worst part: You hit one rock and in the background enemies are throwing rocks at you so it's: Hit, hit, avoid falling rock, hit it, avoid falling rock for like 20 times or more. So freaking annoying and once I had destroyed that one there was another rock NEXT to it. That's when I've turned off the game.

Weren't you meant to wind-up punch the rocks?

If you want 2D games there are plenty of good ones out there. The Mega Man games retained their pixel look, not to mention there is a plethora of shmups out there.
>>
>>3617254
Anything else. My question was really: Why the hell did they put in those rocks? Who thought that would be a good idea and am I doing something wrong? I hit them with my fists and also with my sword but it takes ages like seriously very long.

I collect mainly for n64 but have recently had an itch to play some old PS1 games so I'm thinking of picking one up from a local store for around 25 dollars.

Any must plays for the system? Ps1 has always looked a lot more dated to me, is it better to just emulate or play remakes instead of purchasing the system?

psone or ps1? Or should I spend 10 more bucks and get a ps2

Anything by Namco, they were killing it with the ps1 at the time

Spyro and Crash are a must, CTR especially.

Depends on what type of game you are looking for in particular in terms of genre etc.

I really had a craving for the series lately and after having some real fun with Desert Strike I thought that Jungle would be even better, but amount of disapointment hit me really hard.
>>
>>3616973
Jungle late game is really kinda poorly balanced, F117 level is a total mess.
Urban also has it's lows but is a bit more consistant across the whole game. And that intro is freaking great.
Desert while having some flaws and being a bit short is still the most solid Strike game, and it has a rockin soundtrack. For the first game in the serie it still holds its own.

Populous. Or maybe another simulation game? SimCity might be good, since you could then wake up to a huge amount of extra money and an interesting pattern of wreckage (from the Bowser that wandered through at 3:53 AM) for you to fix.

So i just got an Nes at the flea for $5 with Mario cart included.

Only problem is it doesnt come with the AC adapter. Is there any way to check if this thing actually works before dropping $20 for an original one? i have a Snes and Super Famicom.

>>
>>3616191

flea market, seller was a middle aged lady selling furniture and clothes so it was just luck plus it doesnt come with the ac adapter so no way to check if it actually works she wanted $8.

Im in the Houston area.
