I'm going to glorious Nippon this upcoming Christmas. I'll mostly be in Osaka but will also be in Tokyo for a few days (so I could hit up Akihabara, probably).
What should I pick up? I have an NES with the lockout chip disabled. I would also seriously consider buying a console as well
>>3619443
Buy a glorious Famicom and throw your gaijin console in the trash.
Pic semi related, don't buy a disk system. Do pick up the RAM adapter from an FDS if you find one loose, then buy an FDS Stick online for like $12.
>>3619443
Nothing.
Maybe a PC-Engine, a Hori Mini N64 controller, but that's it. Don't go looking for scoops becuase there really just aren't that many any more.
>>3619461
This is a good call, get a PC Engine because they're a pain in the ass to import. They're not even cheap in Japan anymore so getting one on eBay sucks. You can still snag lots of cheap FC games for fun.
Does /vr/ think this is right?
>>3619091
I have no idea what the fuck this is saying.
>>3619096
This.
Right about what? It's a complete mess.
>>3619096
It's about 16-Bit retro computers.
What is the best fishing game on the N64? Also, good fishing games in general
Shigesato Itoi's No. 1 Bass Fishing -Definitive Edition-
I mean, it says it right there, it's the number 1 and it's the definitive edition on top of that.
I played this game a bit and it seems pretty complete. You can interact with NPCs and do quests or competitions, etc. It's in japanese only though.
Sonic Adventure.
>>3619070
Ocarina of Time.
Why does the D-Pad feels like ice cream and warm pie?
>>3619049
That sounds terrible for a controller, are you sure you didn't mean this one?
>>3619049
The Saturn and PlayStation dpads would like for you to calm down there chief.
>>3619071
But Saturn has a quite good D-pad while Sony's is the worst of all time.
Because not every game has to be a masterpiece to be enjoyable
pretty generic and grindy, but the battle system made it stand out for me
it's kinda like the one in FFXII, but this one was more involving because you need to change the AI regularly
>>3619007
I remember playing this as a kid. The dungeons were all mazes and it was super easy to get lost. At least for a dumb kid. I got to the final boss and couldn't finish the game, it was too difficult for me.
Maybe I should try to finish it now...
>>3619321
if you save up the full life restoring item (can't remember what it's called), the final boss isn't too bad
The arcade game seems a little forgotten. Is it harder than the console ones?
>>3618991
Given that it was made in 1983, when quarter munchers were starting to be all the rage as money machines, yeah, I'd say so.
If you mean actual difficulty, that's harder to say. I never got to them, but I heard the later guys could pull off some major bullshit(typical of arcades, of course).
I can't get past Glass Joe in the arcade version and think he's a piece of cake in the console games, so yeah.
>>3618991
I beat the first three guys by mashing the punch button although i couldnt kill the 4th guy so maybe it is harder
>download emulator
>try to remember what games I played when was a kid
>??????
This ever happen to anyone else? I remember renting snes games almost every fucking day, but what were they, I dunno...
>>3618887
>download emulator
>try to remember what games i saw on some lp shit
>can't cuz i'm stoned.
>ask for recommendations
>post pic of old guy
>i totally fooled em
This ever happen here before?
>>3618898
>dude weed lmao
You have to 18 to post here
>>3618887
When I was a kid I rented a bunch of shitty licensed games. That's probably why you don't remember many. They weren't good.
GUYS I NEED HELP
So, I'm trying to run popful mail on the retroarch and I have a problem
Where do I leave the Bios file?
Do i need to extract the zip bios file?
What produxt file from the zip version I use?
Best core to run the game?
>Where do I leave the Bios file?
Get the retroarch BIOS pack from here:
http://emulation.gametechwiki.com/index.php/Emulator_Files#Multi-System
and extract it to your Retroarch/system directory.
>Best core to run the game?
Genesis Plus GX
>>3618881
Is the bios file a .bin? Also, I'm trying to run this on android
>>3618881
I got this folder, what now?
http://www.romhacking.net/translations/2307/
Full two-disc fan-translation next month. It will feature an improved translation for Disc 1, the debut of Disc 2 with Eng subs, and more menus translated.
If you'd like to try it out right now, there's a patch for Disc 1 out, which has two full paths (out of 5).
This is awesome! I've been replaying the PS2 titles recently and I've been wondering about the earlier ones. Apparently it even has anime cutscenes
>>3618678
Yea, there are a few here and there, they're done by Production I.G
Here's the OP to give you an idea: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VYlBwbgT5fs
Since I have to wait 4 more days until I can make a new post on my project's thread on RHDN, I figured I might as well post some new developments here
First up, I finally managed to make some nice looking replacements for this kind of texture.
Pic related is the original, this was a test for the "GRDF" one.
Hello guys the amiga is the best gaming machine right?
I like it, but mainly for demos honestly. Commodore should have made a standard for controllers with more than one button so more games had support for that.
RIP Australia-kun. ;_;
The Amiga was a great machine all around, games were just one thing that it could do on top of a bunch of other things. Calling it a gaming machine wouldn't be doing it justice.
What's the hardest alttp boss
Ganon, but even then he's not that hard.
>>3618547
This fucker is usually where I die on a minimal no save speed run.
Not the hardest but I recall dying many times to this guy. And you had to have plenty of magic.
Has anyone here ever had to get rid of their collections? I've been feeling as if my room has been cluttered with games I really have no space to put anything anymore. It's not dirty I have everything shelved and stored but I just have too many games. I was wondering if liquidating my collection and just getting everdrives would be a better option.
>>3618498
No.
Nobody has ever gotten rid of their video games.
If you have "clutter" you need to organize, maybe a bit of culling but you don't need to get rid of everything just because you had a fleeting feeling.
Nice facebook meme.
I don't have any pre gen 6 games because my fucking family couldn't stop being dysfunctional for 10 minutes.
any other crpgs that are like this masterpiece? mostly the focus being entirely on gameplay and a minimum amount of story
Most of them?
Curse of the Azure Bonds?
>>3618491
Wizardry and Ultima series
>Open up! We have word that you left roms on your computer for more than 24 hours!
>>3618425
Hello /v/
I DID NOT
But I have the games and copied them myself! I just don't have the copier anymore. What now?
There hasn't been a pinball thread for months now, what happened? Did all the cool people leave /vr/?
My arcade just got Twilight Zone. This is the first time I've gotten to really play this game in-depth, and if you ask me, it lives up to all the hype. The sound/music is excellent, the gimmicks are fun, the layout is cool, and there's lots of fun scoring modes.
My best tonight was just over 300 mil. Grand Champion is 1,700,000,000+.
Bump cause i like to lurk in threads like these.
>>3618394
>Did all the cool people leave /vr/?You haven't noticed the decline in thread quality as of late?
>>3618394
If you like Twilight Zone check out Wizard of Oz. It's actually a pretty similar layout but with a lot better flow to it and an an equal amount of depth (plus all the modern features).
The best pinball machine is actually to the right of that Twilight Zone though...
