How is the retro video game market in Eastern Europe?

Most of em only had bootlegs back in the day I believe
>>
I'll take a guess that legitimate stuff is ludicrously expensive and only imported by the trendy nouveau riche while the usual counterfeits are as cheap and plentiful as they were in the '90s.
>>
Eastern europeans -like southamericans- used consoles that were either clones of popular ones -Atari 2600 and NES bootlegs- or consoles that flopped in the US-EU market, and were sold cheaper there just to get rid of them -Like the Atari XE or the Master System-. Of course the famiclones were by far the most popular ones because his low price and amount of games.

Hey guys, first time posting here really. I don't have much time for gaming unfortunately, but I find myself with time while I'm on the go. I don't like phone games I have come across, I find them rather mindless. I recently learned of the FF games 1-7 and 9 being on iOS with 1-6 and 4-2 as a $70 bundle (I'm pretty late to the party). I have very limited FF experience under my belt, having only played FFIII on the nintendo ds and FFX on the PS2, and was wondering if it was worth getting the set?

Specific questions I had in mind were:

How do these remakes hold to the originals?
Is it worth getting them for my phone rather than PC/other?
Should I play them in order?
Which is your favorite and why?
Are there any I should avoid?

Thanks!

At least 1-3 are safe then?
Do you think it's worth it considering this may be the only chance I'll actually play the game?

I have put in some time on it, but due to the fact that it is just 100% objectively inferior to every other entry (doesn't even have seasons) there is kinda just no reason to touch it.

Gotta say though. Seeing this pop up on the threads list made me have a "Man, good taste, anon" moment. Good on you.

Obviously a N8 is even better, but this cart will secure you the jist of the games at least excluding a couple. (CVIII and Kid Dracula off the top of my head)

Kirby and Blaster Master also use PAL versions which play much faster than they should.

>>3617982
If that doesn't have similar PAL rom issues, and actually comes with the pictured pin adapter, that seems like it really would be a nice deal.

Why do arcade boards have so many fucking chips? What do they all do?

Look at this. This is the board from an original Ms. Pac Man arcade. What the hell are all those chips? Why are they all necessary? The home console releases could come fairly close on a technical level with maybe 5 chips total. So what is this mess supposed to be?

>>
>>3617914

For one thing, this is hardware that predates the NES. Also, the cartridges are generally just the ROM data plus maybe an enhancement chip, this has to cover not just the ROM data, but also the processor, sound, etc. Also, yes, a lot of times arcade games were more powerful than equivalent home consoles at the time.
>>
>>3617914
Lets talk production. Let's take Ms. Pac Man for example. You'll need about 35KBs of storage space for graphics, code, and sound, some amount of RAM, a CPU, controller interface, power handling, and some audio and video hardware on the board itself to create the right signal for the speakers and monitor. A 64K ROM chip cost around $500 back in 1981. 1K, 2K, and 4K ROM chips were far cheaper, even moreso when bought in bulk. Hence it made more sense financially to produce Ms Pac Man boards with 8 4K chips, 1 2K chip, and 4 1K chips than to use a single 64K. PCB space is cheap, large capacity chips are not. This is still true to this day, where many video cards will have 8-16 chips for RAM rather than 1 or 2.

Those consoles came out about years later, when you could get 256K chips for the price 64K used to be. Memory in general was 10 times cheaper than it was in '81, at which point it was cheaper to get chips larger than 4K.
>>
>>3617914
>The home console releases could come fairly close on a technical level with maybe 5 chips total.
1) There are a bunch of additional chips in the console that execute the code stored on the cartridges
2) Home console ports in the early 80s are not fairly close and especially not on a technical level

Just got this for the 20th anniversary and cleared the first 3 levels. Never played it before. It's bullshit on keyboard so I mapped it to a Dualshock and it's surprisingly pretty managable. The only problems are the ledge auto jumping sometimes doesn't work, strafe speed is stupidly slow, and you have to be standing over an item directly to pick it up. Using the ATI Rage Windows version with FLAC music, widescreen FOV, and windowed mode.

Do I totally suck if I find this game extremely difficult? This is the first game I'm playing on the Genesis aside from the Sonic titles, and I just can't get the grasp of it. The controls feel so damn awkward, I always have to remind myself which button is punch and which button is kick. Is that a common problem or am I just horrible? It's a shame because its badass when you transform into a beast, but the finesse it requires is incredible.

I just don't consider this to be a Mario game. Why should I? It's a ROM hack. They replaced graphics and I don't think any game becomes a Mario game all of a sudden with swapped sprites. The thing is: the music is AMAZING. It has all those famous Mario classics we all know and they kept on using. It's some weird irony that those songs aren't actual Mario songs or did they also replace the music (that would be new to me). It's also interesting to note that the characters got their signature features in this game (like Peach's floating thing). Now DOES this game introduce all the great music? I am asking because I can NOT remember any famous Mario song Mario Bros 3 on the NES introduced. Could you kindly tell me if there were any? I also SUCK at Mario Bros 2. Like I seriously suck. I've tried to beat the first level yesterday and I just wasn't able to make it.
