Burned discs are still the most accessible way of playing Saturn games.

I was talking with a few friends this evening and we were trying to think of the 3 best (in our opinions) first person shooters and we started looking up older games on systems that probably went unlooked, I ended up finding powerslave and thought wait a minute that engine, and started to get very curious about how to play it, so with some googling I found that the doods at Lobotomy Software had made a enhanced version of the Msdos game and lets you play right away on win7 and thought it'd be cool to give it to good ol /vr/ so I could actually contribute for once.
http://www.mediafire.com/file/z8pba9xnxzjjv2s/Powerslave+EX+v.1.0.0+%2B+patch+v.1.0.1.7z
all you have to do is extract the anubis patch from the powerslave_ex_patch_1_0_1 folder into the powerslave_ex_public_beta_1_0_0/powerslave_ex folder and yer good to go.
I hadn't seen it recommended yet on /vr/ and wanted to say it reminds me a lot of what Metroid Prime in an Egyptian setting. Seems cool so far.

>I found that the doods at Lobotomy Software had made a enhanced version of the Msdos game
Wow wow wow.
Hold your kamel.
For one thing, Lotobomy has nothing to do with Powerslave EX. Lobotomy went down not long after Powerslave was released (after they made their Saturn ports of DN3D and Quake).
Secondly, Powerslave EX isn't "an enhanced DOS version", it's a fan remake of the PS1 version. The console and DOS version are two completely different games sharing the same assets.
Finally, and if you ask me, Powerslave EX is terrible. All the gameplay behaviours are off, it plays nothing like the PS1 version it's based on. Besides, again if you ask me, the PS1 version which is a port of the Saturn version with its share of differences, was worse than the Saturn version to begin with. So that's like playing an inferior fan recreation of an inferior port.
It's good that you're interested in Powerslave. They are great games. Just play the DOS, Saturn and PS1 versions.
Hi /vr/,
I helped my friend move house last week and to cut a long story short I've ended up with a broken PSone. I have an idea for a project, I want to put a Raspberry Pi in there which is easy enough to do but I want to buy one of those LCD screens for it so I'd need to use the original power and AV ports, I have a couple of questions if you would be so kind to help me out.
>Power
As far as I'm aware the plug itself houses the PSU and it's rated at 7.5V and 2.0A, I'm in the UK btw. I was thinking of having a small powered USB hub inside the PSone connected to the DC port and having the Pi draw power from that along with maybe an SSD for ROMs/ISOs. I just have no idea how I would make this work in regards to voltage/amps, I can do a decent job of soldering and stuff like that but I'm not exactly an expert when it comes to electricity and power. Does anyone have any suggestions?
>AV port
I believe I could just wire in the composite output from the Pi but I'd rather get RGB. I'd rather steer clear of HDMI converters if possible due to possible lag and very limited space in the PSone.
I found this VGA board:
https://www.pi-supply.com/product/gert-vga-666-hardware-vga-raspberry-pi/
Does anyone know if it would be possible to get RGB from this VGA to the AV out? I have the pinout here:
http://poofycomputers.com/ps2vga/pics/ps2-pinout.png
Also, I'm not even sure what kind of video the LCD accepts from the PSone, does anyone know if it actually takes RGB or if it just takes composite from the playstation?
Thanks
>>3612125
A) Way to go retard, putting a raspberry PI in something for no reason
B) The screen is composite, did you try taking the damn thing off? It's basically a throughput.
C) Go fuck yourself.
>>3612125
i have a broken psone too i want to put a raspberry pi in it as well
I know about isopropyl rubbing alcohol and a q-tip, but what other methods are there (if there are any)?
Alcohol is the first step. If that doesn't work, the next step is a latex-free pencil eraser. I've only had two cases where that didn't work and I had to bring out a razor blade to scrape corrosion off of contacts.
>>3612071
q-tip and 95% hydrofluoric acid
opening the pcb board itself helps immensely
>>3612085
OP. Already got got a security bit so I'm good on opening them. Only really challenge is opening Famicom games...

I legitimately can't believe how badly they fucked up the sound in this thing. I used Genesis emulators in the early 2000s that had better sound emulation.
Just listen:

How did Sega approve this shit? It's completely inexcusable.
>>3611513
Fuck this no card slot meaning this is just fancy Emulation wrapped up in an expensive price tag.
thinking about getting one of these bad boys is it worth it
It's pretty sweet. Could never get the tv antenna to work on mine
It's a great little system. You will probably need to replace the caps but while you do that you can upgrade to a slightly larger and clearer screen.
>>3611146
Not really. I paid $50 for mine and it sits in a drawer while I emulate PCE games perfectly on a smaller, lighter $30 dingoo with better battery life.
Which is better?
>>3610993
Hyperstone Heist, it has more enemies, better controls, and cooler music.

SNES

I remember playing this back in high school. Enjoyed it a lot, and the extreme profanity was really funny to me back then. The art style reminds me of GTA2 for some reason.
What's all the commotion?
Really doesn't hold up. Also no source port for this idtech 2 game, you know what that means.

Saying that to someone playing ninja gaiden is MEAN.
Jacquio is a real bitch. If you aren't in the air when he releases his fireballs they are much easier to dodge. If you can beat 6-2 you can beat Jacquio.
>>3609364
I've beaten him with sword only, but usually I'll just die and re-do the stage to get my fire wheels back and that'll take him out no problem. Just run opposite his direction and shoot him. It also helps if you love the final stage. Once you can breeze through it without taking too much damage you feel like such an invincible badass.
>Super Mario Bros. actually has 256 worlds total, but all of the worlds past 8 are usually glitchy and broken. The Minus World is the only "Glitch world" that be can accessed through the western NES, while many more can be accessed though a Japanese Famicon.
Why do these abominations exist?
Were they left-overs from development, or does the game somehow generate them?

He did not get last place.
