So how rare or common is the gold version of Ocarina of Time?
30 posts and 4 images submitted.

>>3698464
Its pretty common.
>>
>>3698464
It's fairly common.

That doesn't keep retards from buying and selling it at ridiculous prices though.
>>

A sealed box i guess i could see people spending a lot for collectors edition. But $50 for N64 games that everyone had in their house is just crazy...

Time to help a newfag, /vr/

Okay so I decided to put this old PC I had to use and installed this thing called Lakka that’s basically an OS with emulators.
Sadly the computer is too slow for N64 games so I’m limited to NES/SNES/GameBoy Original/Color/Advance/Other 2D consoles

>TL;DR What are some must-have games for Pre-N64 systems?
Bonus points if there’s a rompack.zip I can download so I don’t have to hand-pick them. Particularly interested in the Nintendo ones.

Also trying to find an old Sony Trinitron TV I had a few years back to replace that monitor.
Is there even a way to connect VGA to RCA?

Man you gotta narrow it down for us

This is like going to /a/ and asking "WHAT IS A GOOD ANIME???"

What other games do you like? What genres are you looking for? Give us a starting point here.
>>
>>3698465
True, my bad.
Classics should be the main focus since I didn't have any of these consoles as a kid but anything that's worth playing to any of you I'm okay with.
Also GBA Pokémon Romhacks welcome, but only if they're complete.

I just want to expand my library.

>Is there even a way to connect VGA to RCA?
There are ways but they're not great. If you're just talking composite you probably won't care though. I recommend getting a video card that has composite out versus getting a converter. You can't really get 240p either way though

>Bonus points if there’s a rompack.zip
There's not. Please at least focus on one genre or one platform or both.

Yeah, he did amazing work on the Amiga, for the time, but refused to switch to PC and insisted on drawing furry stuff.

I want to start doing classic pc gaming. What are some essential classics to begin with?

I'm talking a good retro starting point and then a list that goes forward in time on things to experience afterward. I want the equivalent to starting with the Greeks for reading.

Where would I begin?

x68000 is a good platform to start with. FM towns, PC88 and PC98, lots of good games there.

DOS? Win9x? Apart from the obvious, there isn't really anything worth playing.

So I'm looking into booting to MS-DOS on my modern-day laptop to play games directly on it, without a hacky emulator like DOSBox.

Everything works beautifully except, of course, the lack of legacy sound cards like Ad Lib, Sound Blaster, MT-32, Ultrasound, etc.

So I got to thinking: Would it be possible to develop a DOS-native audio driver that emulates these old cards in software? Does something like that already exist? Google has so far given me nothing.

What say you, /vr/?

mt-32 emulators are good.
>>
>>3698264
DOS on a modern processor unthrottled is going to be way way worse than just using DOSbox. Get a Pentium 2-3 laptop or something.
>>
>>3698319
I would say it depends on the game. Admittedly I've only tried with System Shock so far but it runs just fine on a modern CPU.

>We regret that the pinball site is no longer active. The following excerpts are from two press releases issued December 9 and January 13:

>Sunnyvale, CA. December 9, 1996: Capcom Coin-Op, Inc. will restructure its coin operated amusement division in Arlington Heights effective today. As part of this restructuring Capcom will return its video operation to Sunnyvale, California over the next several months. This will permit the Coin-Op video division to better integrate with the strengthened video development group in California.
>Redwood City, Calif., January 13, 1997: Sega Enterprises, Inc. (U.S.A.) Redwood City, Calif., and Capcom U.S.A. Inc., Sunnyvale, Calif., have terminated discussions between them to merge the pinball businesses of their respective Chicago based companies, Sega Pinball, Inc. ("SPI") and Capcom Coin-op, Inc. ("CCI"). After discussing with SPI, CCI has decided instead to restructure its business, strengthening its video operations and returning such operations to Sunnyvale, California, over the next few months. As part of its plan to restructure and strengthen video operators, CCI has discontinued the design and manufacture of pinball machines. CCI confirms that it will continue to sell its existing pinball products, maintaining technical staff and parts supply.

Christmas 1992

Opened a present in Xmas eve and it was Rampart snes. "Dad I have a regular Nintendo". "Oh sorry, we will return it and get the right game after christmas. "Okay dad"
>Go to bed thinking how cool rampart will be to play with my sister.
Xmas morning we have waffles and open all the presents. Small stuff and none of the NES stuff I asked for.(Didn't ask for a snes, my mom had jist died last year and I knew money was tight)
>feeling disappointed because I'm an 11yr old shit.
Dad comes out of his room with a big box and gives it to me. I tear the paper and see
>the black and red corner of the box I have been staring at on the shelf all year. Tearing the rest of it open it is a super scope too :O

I freeze, paralized for a moment by the shock. literally started crying and hugged my dad for a minute straight.

My bday is the 27th and I got battle clash, aero fighters and a brand new 13" Jvc "master command" with an A/V IN! aww yeah. Turns out the whole family pitched in.

No other Holiday has been able to compare. I wish I would've kept it all.

Bought Wing Commander 1 and 2 some time ago because I loved WC3 way back then and had some hazy memories about not making it very far in the first game for some reason. And after finally playing it again yesterday, I now remember why. The mouse controls are simply unbearable, and the game comes from the era when developers actively tried to make the default keyboard setup as unusable as possible, nor can you rebind stuff in-game. The last time I even held a joystick was almost 20 years ago, and even then it wasn't mine. Can you somehow play these games with something like a gamepad, or at least change the keyboard controls to something usable?

Anyway, I don't know if /vr/ has the same beef with Chris Roberts /v/ does, but can we talk about Wing Commander, and possibly other old aerospace dogfight games?

I loved the mouse controls back then. I used them in WC3 and 4 quite happily - they were exactly the same, IIRC.

Amazing games though.
>>
>>3697895
I have no idea how I beat Wing Commander 3, because it definitely was with a ball mouse. It's a little more complex than earlier games, too, at least as far as controls go.

Either way, the controls were minimalistic enough to fit everything to a gamepad with some extra buttons left. Shame about no analog controls, but I played WC3 on a console, too, so it's not much of a loss.
>>
Whats a good basic joystick that works with doxbox (gog version) of the old WC (and maybe Xwing and Tie games) ?

It's nothing like Zelda. It's just a musty old RPG that doesn't hold up. Even at the time it was greatly overshadowed by Phantasy Star II.
>>
I've played it it's nothing like Legend Of Zelda it's more like Legend of Mana. The Genesis equivalent of Zelda is Crusader of Centy and if you want a contemporary game to LoZ check out Golvellius.
