What do you think? Is pretty popular in japan.
>>3704461
I understand it in the sense of space saver, but still not worth it in the context of how cheap the systems are in Japan.
You might as well opt for emulation
Shitty emulators in a box. It's quite literally the Japanese Retron 5.
Tried it out with the Japanese wife and her bull and she surely loved it!
I'm already aware of Game Center CX
http://www.sa-gccx.com/episodes

But are there any other shows out there that involve retro gaming? Not ones that strictly revolve around reviewing either.
The only other one I know of is a weekly stream by a Something Awful goon named SmiteSA, called Arcade Pit. He basically recreated Nick Arcade (A cool show in it's own right https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nick_Arcade), but with other streamers as contestants.
As an example, here is his most viewed Arcade Pit (Slowbeef and Diabetus of Retsuprae vs TieTuesday and ProtoJon):

The amount of work that goes into this thing is staggering. It's the sort of thing I would expect on TechTV / G4 / Spike. All of the game challenges, quiz questions, drawing prompts, etc. are sent in by the community. If I had the upload speed, I'd definitely apply to play.

Two I really enjoy are chrontendo and game sack. Chrontendo is this guy's attempt to play and document every game realeased on the famicom in release order. His commentary is kinda dry but I genuinely enjoy it and his humor doesn't feel forced. Game sack is a typically game show but I like it since it feels like the two hosts are actually real knowledgeable and don't just repeat shit we've all heard a million times.
>>3704326
I'll have to check it out, especially that first one. I've thought about doing something similar with alphabetical order.
>>3704307
Arcade Pit is great. I just wish there was more variety in contestants.
ITT everything DOSBOX related. What games and OS systems are you trying out in dosbox? top favorites that you would recommend? share conf files that make specific games run the best, everything.
I've got windows 3.1 set up in dosbox, what good stuff can you do in it?
Why would you use DOSBox when you can use PCem or Neko Project II?
DOSBox is literally the ZSNES of x86 computers.
I recently got a hacked PSP and I've read here it's the best portable machine for emulating retro.
What are the essential emulators and games for them?
There's so many I'm at a loss.
As long as you don't have any hopes of playing all SNES titles perfectly or 5th Generation consoles save the Playstation 1, you'll be fine.
Check /vg/emugen's wiki for details.
>>3704257
To be specific, the PSP is not good at Mode7 effects.
>>3704213
Runs nes, master system, genesis, ps1, gb/c and gba great for me. Snes is kinda weird so I can't reccomend it unless you play something turn based. It also runs shit like SCUMM games and DOS but I haven't tried them myself. For how convenient and easy it is to hack its good for what it does, in a few years I imagine the vita will be better but for now the psp still has some things the vita doesn't.
ps1 or pc ?
>>3704031
PC if you're going to apply modifications and patches.

>>3704039
thanks
Wish this damn game had subtitles.
I missed half of the story because the audio mixing is feces and ambiance plays way louder than the dialogue.
I thought you jerk it to old Fallouts to prove how hardcore you are. So any logical reason you didn't play Fallout 1.5: Ressurection yet?
http://resurrection.cz/en/
>>3703998
There's nothing hardcore about Fallout unless you do ironman, no exiting without saving.
>>3704003
Tbh it was just an opening line to grab your attention. Now go play the mod.
>>3703998
>fallout
>hardcore
10 agi fast shot gauss pistol gg everything
Which of the 3 retro OS should I install onto my new pi, retropie, lakka or emulation station?
>>3703841
the best one
RISC OS
I'm thinking of investing in a RasPi3 for TV emulation.
How much worse is it compared to PC-based shit? I'm spoiled on shit, but if it's not too bad I might have a go.
What is your favorite Sega console?
Genesis>Saturn>Dreamcast>Master System
Dreamcast>Genesis>Master System>Saturn
>>3703794
>Master System before Saturn
I'm curious, why?
I only recently got an N64. Is this game good?
It's a classic, but it's not without its faults. Still an enjoyable game, and if you like classic Star Wars you will most likely like it.
>>3703692
What this anon said. I got it when it was new and played the hell out of it, especially the Hoth and asteroid field stages (although once I got Rogue Squadron, that satisfied my Battle of Hoth urges just fine).
>>3703663
thats the launch game I got together with my n64, kinda of nice with the star wars wave going on at the time
Is there any sort of translation central hub for old games? I know many end up on romhacking dot net but lots of stuff are missing there, specially smaller translating groups which focus on old japanese computer games. Just wanted to know if there's a website condensing most of the groups/links or if relying on luck and googling is the only way to do this stuff
If it's not listed on RHDN, Google is pretty much your only option.
Anyone got some cool games not on romhacking?
What is this absolute madman is doing these days?
>>3703608
Bowing to putin
Is that RPGMaker 2000 default assets I see?
Not retro.
>>3703909
What if someone ROM hacked an old game and replaced all the sprites with RPGMaker2000 default assets?
Hi /vr/ i'm searching some old school shooter on steam.
Can you help me?
>>3703479
Telling anything about said shooter would help.
Also it might not necessarily be on Steam, Steam sucks regarding retro games.
That's the game Blood. Great game.
Thats blood and its on GOG
What's your favorite Keiji Inafune game?
Megaman Dash.
Was he even the producer though? I don't remember his name on the credits when I beat it.
Pro Yakyuu? Satsujin Jiken!
>>3703434
The one that didn't waste millions of dollars.
I need help playing Final Fantasy VI. I'm at the part where Kefka's troops are climbing up the mountain and you split into three parties and have to stop them from getting to Baron. I got beat pretty bad. What should my strategy be? What should my parties be? I put Locke and Celes together and they didn't last too long, Same with Terra and Edgar. Cyan, Edgar, and Gau lasted a little longer, but I still died.
>>3703223
>Cyan, Edgar, and Gau
Scratch that, Cyan, Sabin, and Gau.
>>3703223
Make two groups of 4 and put them at tbe choke points halfway through the map.
Your last remaining group contains your least valuable and they do nothing.
If you're playing a hardmode or low level run the group on the right will have a chance to push through and end early, skipping about 6 or 7 of the green and brown forces. Celes is good so she can runic the poison and bolt/fire of tbe big rider mini boss and kefka.
>>3703223
Literally just hunt all of the packs down and Bioblaster/Autocrossbow them down with Edgar.
do any of you fags have any experience installing these bastards?

>>3703161
Yes, I enjoy the hell out of it. Still stiff after 4 years
Just unscrew your controller
unplug your old joystick
plug in your new joystick
>>3703161
Make sure you're getting the newer one. The old ones can't do smash attacks and the spin attack doesn't work in OOT among other problems.
There's also some guy who made a replacement board that supposedly perfects these things.

Installation of a module is easy as fuck, just do what >>3703167 said.
>>3703207
Top is old, bottom is new. Note the lack of a pinhole.
Apparently you can't control which one you receive according to amazon reviewers.
