I'm going to be remaking a retro vidya in JavaFX for shits n gigs.
What are some of your favorite obscure sprites that I can include in this game?
I'm gonna be making the sprites by hand so the simpler (but the cooler) the better.
I'll be posting on /vr/ as the project comes along and then give out the game for free.

Real Time Clock -- the EDGB and EZFlash don't have one so the time is stuck in the game. This patch works around this by making the time advance in game much faster to compensate for time "not passing" when the cart is not in use.

The monochrome sprites are detailed, but the changing of palettes from one color to another on the background layer is jarring.

People don't worship it, they have nostalgia for it and fondness for its soundtrack. It also has some good levels. If anything most oldschool fans will say THPS2 is the best one.
I liked 3 but I thought the reverts were a bit silly (do we really need to be able to chain EVERY trick?) and I felt the style was a little more cartoony than 2's.

Oh damn, I absolutely loved this game as a kid. I didn't realize metroidvania was a thing until not so long ago, so I thought this was the only game to have done so.
This game was great. I'm not sure how much of a rip off it was, but I thought I had a great difficulty for kids, so many interesting area's to explore and backtrack too. I think it really goes to show how great a game can be with just a few of these thought out features.
