Which of these versions most accurately emulated the original?

The gamecube one, If I remember correctly and I don't want to make it into one of "those" threads.

Zelda virtual console had a couple miniscule changes made to it.
>>
Most if not all of the graphical/design changes are present in both versions. Other than that GC takes significantly longer to save and load. Saving is instantaneous in both N64 and VC. They're basically the same as far as casual play is concerned.

Today I found Super Famicom games on sale in a peddler's mall (indoor flea market). I would have never imagined in a hundred years to see these in a place like this. I suppose they were imported and intended for sale in a retro gaming store that has now went out of business.

Several copies of Super Mario World, Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy IV, and Dragon Quest VI were to be found.

In other parts of the store I saw an NES copy of 8 Eyes, a game I haven't seen on a shelf in a long time. Saw some other random bits and pieces of NES and SNES accessories in other places that had been hard to find the last few years.

What's going on? Are people people moving on?

I would imagine eventually 3rd and 4th generation will be be in the same price tier as 2nd generation became.

It feels like I've started to see less PlayStation (1) games. And better selections of PS3 and 360 games.

And yeah, you can't even give away Atari games these days.

What's /vr/'s thoughts on the Analogue Nt Mini

>overpriced
>waste of money
>get a pi isntead

But 1080p with RGB sound sexy as hell, and from I've heard the FPGA work is top notch. I'm sorely tempted to get one for a present to myself.

>>
>>3693349

Overpriced garbage that's outclassed by the AVS or an original NES with an RGB or HDMI mod.

And those things would cost you $300 less, too
>>
>>3693368
This, the analogue nt is overpriced hipster shit.

I quite like the Dark Lord trilogy myself

I haven't played Parasite Even in a long time and now seems like a good time as any what with the holiday.

Just wanted to refresh my memory though, what's the best way to use BP and gun mods?
17 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>3693238
Slam all your gun mods (except cyanide) onto a pistol and slam all that onto subsequent pistols you get. When you get a shotgun, slam it all on that.
>>
>>3693238
The best overall gun is the sub-machinegun you can get from trading 300 pieces of junk. It's the P90 in this game.

Best way to use BP in my personal opinion is to use them on whatever feels necessary for you. Some people are against putting points in expanding inventory size and the AP/ATB speed, but for someone who doesn't plan in playing the game multiple times through new game+, it's absolutely fine.

You can finish the game normally without needing to use BP to give stat ups for weapons. You'll get enough tools, weapons, and stat+ items to get through the game anyway.
>>
>>3693238

-Make sure to get the shotgun from the Chinatown Sewers. Tool the 'Burst' Trait from that onto a SMG and you will wreck house.

-Don't let a weapon's 'Rate-of-Fire' Trait get much above 3 or 4. The game divides damage among bullets fired. So you're wasting bullets to do less damage.

-There's a really great pistol you can find after fighting the T-Rex in the Museum. It's very well hidden in a broken exhibit. The gun has the 'Double Command' Trait on it. Tool it off that weapon, and you'll be able to take TWO actions on one turn, like use a Parasite power and also fire, etc. In the Chrysler Building, you can find a weapon that has 'Triple Command'.

Thanks Anon, I thought $20 was way too much but $5 with a Level Editor is great. Never played much of Turok so I'll play it through before messing around with building custom levels.

I just downloaded the update, people are already uploading stuff to the workshop I'm pretty excited.

I hope Turok 2 ends up getting a level editor at some point.

explain, why is this game garbage?
15 posts and 2 images submitted.

Pretty much because it looks like shit. It plays alright, but not as good as the other DKC port which looks much better, so that kind of makes it shit right there.

Truthfully, with SGB or GBC pallettes, it's tolerable. In monochrome it's really hard to make out what you're looking at half the time, especially in motion, and ESPECIALLY on original hardware with the ghosting issues.
>>
>>3692904
I 101%'d (or whatever was the max, maybe 103) this game many times as a kid, I haven't replayed it since but I remember enjoying it very much.

Only issue I remember is that sometimes you had to take "leaps of faith" because you couldn't see what was down ahead.
>>
The comparison between DK Land 1 & 2 is a great demonstration of how less is more. The first one just has so much detail cluttering up the background that you can't see what you're doing or what's coming a lot of the time, which results in deaths. In the 2nd one they toned down the backgrounds and it makes for a much better experience.

I remember this game being pretty hard (and fun), never beated it, I got stuck in a dungeon that you need to split your party in two, I saved the game in a point of no return, my characters were too weak to beat the boss and my stock of items was too low to grind.

I need to pick it up again someday.

Why isn't this game on Steam?
7 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>3692843
Obviously because no one's prepared a PC port for Steam
>>
I believe there's some sort of entanglement with the original PC versions of those games, because they were made for some japanese PC platform (NeXT, I think?), and not all the rights of those versions pertain to CAPCOM.
Also, zero interest.
>>
>>3692965
You're mixing things up. "Sourcenext" were the devs who did the jap-only DVD re-release of the PC versions of BH2 and BH3; but they didn't even make the original PC versions to begin with.

I am 99% positive Capcom published themselves all the PC versions of RE/BH though, at least in most countries. The RE3 PC release I have here only has the name of Capcom on it. There is no way they'd lose publishing rights to their own games, even on one platform.

They probably don't think it's worth the effort to re-release them. Consider this, when they made the HD re-releases of REmake and 0, they felt they HAD to add a tacked-on 16/9 mode and to ruin the gameplay with camera centric controls "for modern standard".
They probably think nobody cares about this "outdated shit" anymore. Yes, they re-released Megaman 1-6 on Steam, but that was only after the success of Megaman 9 and 10...

I've been playing gameboy games like this. Does this look bad? people have been yelling at me because they say the aspect ratio is too flattened and stretched but i don't know how to fix it when i'm playing fullscreen.

Welcome to /vr/!
This is a place where you'll get bitched at no matter how you decide to play old games! Expect nothing less!

Anyway, since this game has a border I would use the 4:3 aspect ratio and crop the top and bottom. The left and right border will help fill in the sides on a wide screen. I imagine retroarch would let you do that.
>>
>>3692782
Anon, does it not bother you that it looks like that? If I didn't know how to fix such a thing I simply wouldn't play.
If you've been playing like this and it doesn't bother you then I guess it's ok for you to continue, just be aware that you're a horrible person.

Define "grinding".

Grinding is fighting the same enemies over and over in the same place to reach a certain amount of level or loot.

High random encounters =/= grinding.
