Can we have a "crimes against /vr/" thread?
>>3689332
They are making a mobile version of Wild Arms 1.
>>3689345
Is it a remake or a port?
>>3689348
Probably a port with enhanced graphics
Is this the most hated console on /vr/?
Favorite games? Favorite console color?
it deserves to be the most hated, my favorite n64 game is goemon's great adventure.
>>3688915
>Is this the most hated console on /vr/?
Nah. That'd be the Atari 2600.
The N64 was a serious misstep for Nintendo, but it has more than enough quality games to get a pass from me. Its one and only decent RPG, Paper Mario, is also my favorite RPG of the gen.
Speaking of which, where would you guys recommend buying a cheap flashcart for this thing?
>>3688942
I don't think there are cheap flash carts for the n64.
I see many threads about Mario and Nintendo lore, but what about Sega lore? Let's sperg a bit about Sega games.
We do know that all the Virtua games take place in the same universe, but if OutRun is part of the Virtua continuity, do ALL Sega games take place in the same universe? How fucked up is the world map of OutRun?
>Fantasy Zone
>Space Harrier
Confirmed same universe
>Streets of Rage
>E-Swat
Confirmed same universe
>Golden Axe
>Dynamite Cop
Confirmed same universe
>Daytona
>OutRun
>Scud Race
>Sega Rally
>Virtua Cop
Confirmed same universe
I believe we have three Sega realities, one is the Virtua one, where everything is canon, then there's the Sonic continuity, where talking animals co-exist with humans and finally the Shenmue continuity, where Sega games are just games until the Segagaga incident. Ryo Hazuki is the Akira of this continuity, and possibly inspired the games Akira Yuki.
The rough timeline for the Virtua reality goes like this, ignoring many games
Columns>Golden Axe series>Gain Ground>Alex Kidd>Altered Beast>Chakan>Lord of the Sword>Kung Fu Kid>Pit Pot>Bank Panic>Gangster Town>Comical Machine Gun Joe>Bonanza Bros.>Girl's Garden>Spatter>Safari>Deep Scan>Yamato>Borderline>Tranquilizer Gun>Congo Bongo>Aztec Adventure>Ghost House>Flashgal>Safari Race>Zippy Race>Hang-on>Appoooh>GP World>Streets of Rage>After Burner>Virtua Fighter>Virtua Racing>Daytona USA>Sega Rally>Fighting Vipers>Virtua Cop>OutRun>Rad Mobile>Super Monaco GP>Streets of Rage 2>Streets of Rage 3>Monaco GP>Wing War>Laser Ghost>E-Swat>Car Hunt>Super Tank>Shinobi series>Alien Storm>The Cyber Shinobi>Alien Syndrome>Zaxxon>Astro Warrior>Zillion>Space Harrier>Fantasy Zone>Phantasy Star>Ecco
Virtual-On happens on virtual reality in Virtua continuity around the same time as Fighting Vipers. Teddy Boy also seems to takes place within virtual reality.
Dynamite Dux, Sonic, Flicky and Psycho Fox all take place in the same continuity.
The Outrun car and the Super Hang-On bike make a cameo in Afterburner so I would assume they are in the same universe. That's all I got tho.
is panzer dragoon the last series in the sega timeline?
>>3679570
Golden Axe 1 canonically takes place inside of an arcade cab
Shinobi crosses over with Terminator, Spider-man, Batman, Godzilla, and Rambo
Looks like all fiction and possibly parts of reality take place inside of a video game
Searching the Doukyusei OST I found this channel so I just wanted to share:

Has there ever been a good adaption of a visual novel?
I already posted this on /v/, but fuck it, it applyes for both treads.
So, as you (should) already know, Earthbound is one of the best RPG with turn-based combat. It is one of the most fun games i've ever played in my entire life and my fauvorite RPG. Im looking for another one just like it (no Mother1/3)
I already did some research for this type of game, but none of them have the "requirements" to be good as Earthbound. These are:
1. The game needs to know how to tell a good story. For example, Earthbound seems pretty silly at first glance and nobody expects how deep the game is. You really get attached to the protagonists and some NPC's. From almost the very start, Buzz-buzz tells you about Giygas and the prophecy of Ness and friends to save Earth.
2. Sense of progress. You really see lots of progress playing trough the game, with the first "monsters" being dogs and birds and in the last dungeon (Giygas' hideout) you fight demonic beings and killer robots with psychic powers.
2.5. Natural progression. Don't you hate when you have to grind for shit like EXP or items? (in the case of money, it can be forgiven). Well i do, and the game has to progress naturally (Duh)
3. Somewhat good music.
4. The game NEEDS to have a clever and well designed combat system. I don't care about the mechanics, it has to be strategic, easy to use and understand and, obviously, fun to use.
5. Good. Outside from these factors, if there is something that makes the game not enjoyable, it can't be related to Earthbound

You're looking for games that don't exist
Dragon Quest V
Try some of the Dragon Quest games. 3 and 5 are solid picks. Not really the same, and they have some grindy moments, but it's as close as I've found to the actual gameplay.
Not /vr/, but if you don't mind the memes and you avoid the fanbase, Undertale is inspired by Earthbound and is a solid 7/10, I think. Mileage may vary. The tone is comparable, at the very least.
Hey /vr/, got the whole night for myself. What should I play from start from finish?
Pokemon snap
A Zelda game would be comfy in my opinion
>>3702623
I disagree... a lot of Zelda's are actually really, really boring and drawn out.
I think Actraiser is super comfy, but it's only a 3ish hour game.
Maybe you could do Parasite Eve. It's kind of like Die Hard in that it's a Christmas-y game.
Wonder Boy V: Monster World III > Wonder Boy III: The Dragon's Trap > Monster World IV > Wonder Boy III: Monster Lair > Wonder Boy: Monster Land > Wonder Boy
>Monster Lair that low
Also Bikkuriman World > Wonder Boy
>>3702435
Noooope. Monster Land (arcade original) is the absolute best in the series.
>>3702435
MW2 > MW3 > MW4 > MW1
fuck wonderboy and monster lair
Hammer bros. are legit poorly designed enemies.
Prove me wrong
no you nailed it
Can't deal with a little randomization in your games?
you just suck
Please, help me find a game, /vr/.
It was an old sidescrolling game, with a blonde guy as the main character. He was the only human character, I remember an ice stage too.
It's not Wonder Boy but here is a pic of it.
>>3702045
That's it?… Name the platform and describe the stages/gameplay.
>>3702049
Don't remember the platform, played it on a emulator on PC when I was a kid. One of the stages had spikes coming from the floor and the ceilling. That's all I can remember.

Good night, sweet princess. And thanks for making sure old Luke never shares a scene with old Leia or old Han, JJ.
The worst part is that disney will use her death as a lucrative means.
Good night, sweet princess.
One thing that really bothered me about when Sonic transitioned into 3D was that it wasn't as arcade-like anymore. When People compared Sonic to Mario one thing that always stood out was how arcade-like Sonic was compared to Mario. In Mario games power-ups are sometimes essential to the gameplay, in Mario 3 for example, if you got a leaf there would usually be more heavy platforming, or if you got a frog suit there was most likely a water section ahead. However in Sonic games power ups are usually irrelevant to the level design, to the point where in the first two games the only power ups were ring boxes, speed shoes, and sheilds, things that while nice to have, never were really necessary.
3D Sanic is pure cancer, avoid them.
>>3701919
I know this, but I still think it was worth mentioning, I see a lot of these "sega VS nintendo" threads popping up sometimes and whenever sonic or mario is brought up nobody takes this into account.
>>3701905
What do you mean by Arcade-like?
Main point of arcade games is to get hi-score and get your dirty initials to the list. Sonic is about progression as well as SMB is. Getting through the game as far as you can and finally beating the game.
Are there any people who give a damn about BS-X over here?
It's kinda interesting that someone is developing a restoration project on this.
I really want this project to go well.
Most of the roms got dumped already, all that's left are the broadcasts.
Nothing they do can quite replicate the feeling of being a japanese kid accessing the internet in 1995.
I would be very interested in playing BS Tantei Club: Yuki ni Kieta Kako maybe translated but I think it is impossible.
Alright, possible noob question for you guys. I want to download saves for PS1 games and load them onto a PS1 memory card. What are some methods to do this? I've heard about a involved process requiring a PS2 but I don't have one available to me at the moment.
Basically, Is there some kind of usb PS1 card read/writer device the works with modern PCs? Thanks in advance.
There's even an official one. Not to mention thousands of chinese third-party products.
It lets you practically open the memory card as a folder on your PC and drag and drop saves there like any other files. The official one ar least doesn't require any software to work, so I'd guess it would still work on newer computers. Can't confirm, though.

I don't know why these are so pricey now but I paid like 25 bucks for mine.
Worked with PS1. I used it to bypass the Legend of Legaia back in time glitch on PS3.
>>3701282
awesome! yeah that first party reader is really expensive. Anyone have any experience or luck with any off-brand versions?
Favorite?
Least favorite?
Which do you replay from time to time?
For me, it's X-Wing Alliance. I actually install it anytime I switch computers, just incase I get the itch to play it. Actually still use the Microsoft Sidewinder Pro I bought when I got the game itself. Which is a tad depressing, because it's starting to lean to the left a bit.
>>3701141
Is that using the Q3A engine? Those ship models look exactly the same as they do in Jedi Knight II.
Personally I love Dark Forces, Jedi Knight and Jedi Knight II.
>>3701183
I don't think so? I think XWA was 1999. Outcast was what? 2002? 2003?
I played a ton of rogue squadron and battle for naboo -I got a ton of hours out of those games, plus many more when I got an Internet connection and could find all the secrets..
Having a little bit of trouble replaying them, though, lots of nostalgia lenses going on there. Anybody tried rogue squadron on pc?any good?
What will it take for Nintendo to release the SNES version on Virtual Console?
Is the GBA version much worse with its lower resolution?
>>3700780
I think there's licensing issues with the SuperFX chip or something weird, it might never happen.
Yep, Argonaut dissolved and took the rights to the SFX chip with them. It's not going to happen.
GBA por has some extra slowdown and some enemies got replaced with balloons to reduce lag. Sound quality is pretty faithful although it's only mono and you have got retarded Yoshi Story voice clips. Other than that it's a fine port.
