Jesus fuck, this game. What the hell is this? I can't even beat it once, let alone twice in a row for the "true" ending. The controls have that horrible early '80s clunkiness and those devils are just retarded.

I've heard in the Famicom version you have to do the whole thing with only two hits, because when you die once the entire game restarts. The hell kind of bullshit is that? Has anyone ever managed to do that without cheating or using the level select code?

Based on GCCX that's not true. Though it may have that, like, "Hold up and B while pressing start on the title screen" hidden continue a lot of Famicom games have. Can anyone confirm the truth?

Also, Ghouls and Ghosts is way better. Play that instead.

The game is hard but really if you beat your face against it for a few weeks you should be able memorize it enough to do it.

Help me out, guys. I need to find the title of this thing

I used to play this game, I think it was on one of those multicart GBA cartridges, so it might be a NES game. It looked like Ultima 3 but with cuter character sprites. Think larger heads, kind of like GBA Pokemon. There was also a cutscene at the beginning so it can't be Ultima III. You started out with your party coming out of the king's castle, and you were chosen as warriors to destroy the evil that was corrupting the earth. Yeah super cliche, could be literally any RPG, but I looked through the entire list of NES games on Wikipedia and I couldn't pinpoint which one it was. I'm afraid it might be some sort of bootleg hack. As far as I know, there aren't any Ultima-type games on the GBA.

Otherwise post your own games with forgotten titles.

If three of your party members died, you'd have to drag their coffins back to the castle. If I remember correctly the colors would fade to black and white and dark music would play. Narrator would call you a failure or whatever, you failed your adventure and then game over.

The oldest system I ever owned was an N64, but I recently bought a NES for cheap and got the 72-pin replaced. It works now, but this new 72-pin is so stupidly tight, I need to struggle with it for several minutes to get a game out.

Should I do something about that now, or will it just loosen over time?

Probably just wait, if you try messing with it then there's a good chance you'll screw things up. (Not being rude, just honest)
>>
>>3690937

When you say "wait", do you mean to keep a single game in there, without removing it, for a while? Or just use it and switch games normally?

Having a get-together with some friends back home during the holidays. I'm looking for some great retro games that we can compete against each other at. Pic related is our usual choice.

4-Players or more is preferred.

Inafune was not part of MM1 until a game concept AND character design was created. He was a latecomer. For Mega Man 1, he was only character designer. Inafune did, however, push Capcom to release Megaman 2, which is the main reason we had a megaman series to begin with. You have Inafune to thank for Mega Man 2, the X series, and beyond, etc.

I will openly say that he didn't build the boat, but he certainly did push it.

Why can't you call it Rockman and shorten it to RM1?

Hi /vr/
I'm interested in playing castlevania, but what I've heard about the difficulty is kind of scaring me off. The hardest games I've beaten are probably mega man 4 and 5 (I'll beat 1 and 3 sometime) and smb3. What do you think about the difficulty for an average gamer? Do you think this game will be too hard for me to have fun? Thanks!

Depends on where you get your fun from. The challenge is present in 1 and 3 but the challenge is fair. 1's easier than 3. 3's easier than x68k.

If you find enjoyment in honest challenge and triumphing in that. Castlevania 1 will be fine for you.
>>
>>3690296
Did you really need to ask 4chan about this. Just play it you fucking pussy

Castlevania 1 is about as hard as those you listed, maybe a little bit more. You will manage.

Dragon Quest Thread: Holiday Edition

I've started playing this game, and it's actually really good. Definitely a huge improvement over the first one. It's also the only Dragon Quest Mystery Dungeon game to be officially localized over here, so I thought I'd check out the review scores. How come this game reviewed so poorly? I get that it's rough, but scores like 2.75/10 and 1/10 seem undeserving when I'm legitimately having fun with it.

If you haven't played this game, at least watch the intro (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=123jSz7BxVc) because the claymation is awesome.

If you like the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games, Torneko 2 is much more like those games. I believe that Torneko Mystery Dungeon is the first Mystery Dungeon Game that ChunSoft ever made, and it shows.

The first game is incredibly challenging. There is only one dungeon in the whole game besides the tutorial dungeon, and to beat the game, you need to get to at least floor 26. That doesn't sound so bad, but you will have to run the dungeon over and over again. Just about every enemy has a gimmick and you'll need to learn them if you want to survive. And once you reach a certain point in the dungeon, you will have to run from nearly every enemy. Think of it like when you first get to Rhone in Dragon Quest II. You could just grind if there weren't enemies that can steal levels from you and drain your maximum HP. So you just have to run. It should be a really short game, but because it's so hard, the difficulty lengthens the game. I beat it without save states but some people might need them.

In the second there are multiple dungeons, and the difficulty is turned way down. Granted, I haven't beaten the game yet, but it doesn't seem very long. For all I know, there could be a dungeon later on that's just as hard as the dungeon in the first game. It's much more like the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games because it has bosses and more than one dungeon.

The games are connected but the plot isn't amazing or anything. You could summarize the plot of the first game in three sentences. I wouldn't worry about playing the games out of order. I like them both but some people might have some serious issues with the first game.
