I don't see anything wrong with this pack, looks sturdier like an osprey counterpart + it has a front opening lid, which is a big plus imo. Try it on if you have the chance, but I'd go for it desu.

What does /out/ think about "woobie"? First time I heard about it. This guy:
http://taskandpurpose.com/why-the-woobie-is-the-greatest-military-invention-ever-fielded/

...is jizzing all over with excitement, but Amazon reviews do seem to be quite entusiastic. Plus it does take little space.
Worth it? Original military ones arent that cheap either, is it quality?

>Don't leave home without it.

>Of all the pieces of U.S. military kit I've ever seen (through 20+ years of miltiary service), none equal the Wubbie for value for money, utility, and comfort.

>The original idea was a quilted, water resistant blanket that could be attached to a poncho (hence the bits of string on the corners and edges) to make a warm weather sleeping bag. Yes, I've actually heard of people doing this, but this is such a limited vision of what the Wubbie is capable of.

>Picnic blanket, quilt, bedspread, couch cover, used by itself as a sleeping back, in survival kits, for air travel, pet beds (with or without human consent) etc. I used to keep mine by the couch for siesta time, but it kept getting stolen. In Germany, soldiers would take an unlined rainjacket and a poncho liner to the tailor and get the best cold-wet weather jacket in the world back.
>>
>>862219
Milfag here, it's both lightweight and compacts well. I imagine it would be great for ultralight type stuff, when we drop rucks and go out of our assault bag I always bring it with me, along with the poncho. Great little makeshift sleeping bag, when the full sleep system is a little too bulky to carry in your AB.

Also is enough to take the edge off when it's too cold, or cold and wet when attached to your poncho. Nice little blankie, and even if you're using the full sleep system, it's just a malleable little extra piece of fabric you can purpose use to cover whatever bits are still cold.

No need to sew them both together, use one just like a normal sleeping bag and another one as an underquilt.
Just run some shock cord around the edges (personaly made two small holes in the corners and ran the shockcord inside) and attach some adjustable cords for the suspension

Got started as a Tiger, stuck with it through Eagle.

Learned a lot along the way... outdoors obviously, but also business, life, career, friendships, people, etc.

Not really one of those things I go around telling people, but when the topic comes up and someone finds out I'm an Eagle, it's typically "Cool, I didn't know that." Turns out two other coworkers are Eagles as well.

There's good troops and bad troops. Fortunately I was in a good one. Know a bunch of guys that tried it and went with not-so-good troops, and didn't stick with it long.

Cub scouts was run by the den mothers.... so arts and crafts was a big part of that, with the occasional "camping" trip (local YMCA or something, *maybe* a state park/campground).
Boy scouts was generally scout-ran, with adult guidance.

ITT we talk about Buying land Collectively in Alaska to build a permanent cabin innawoods , from another thread we have already found two Really good pieces of land

Site A is 17 acres at $15k
>http://www.landinalaska.com/DETAILS.ASPX?FILE=K091

Site B is 40 acres at $25K
http://www.landinalaska.com/DETAILS.ASPX?FILE=B229

The Hope/dream is we can get enough people to chip in to buy one of these two Properties before someone else does, then send out a few sc/out/s to the site and start building a "homestead" on the sites (they are both heavily wooded ) these places will be for anyone on /out/ to use as they wish, a community site for everyone here to use and feel comfy in, with the goal being we build a small community innawoods this basicly ties everything out has into one real world location im not vary good at starting threads so sorry if im doing a shit job at it anons

TLDR: we buy land and live inna woods innAlaska

>>
oh also there's a poll of which site to get

http://www.strawpoll.me/11280942 (embed)

i was going to try and crowd source the money to buy the land, but i want to know which Property i should focus on, this is basicly a Charity type thing becuase its not for my soul use and becuase its "private property" ill be giving anyone who goes there the right to build a cabin on the property after we buy it/ raise the money to buy it also if we get to 10k ill sacrifice my anonymity and show that you can trust me not to be a faggot and Run off with the dosh, i really want one of these properties and i really want to share the bounty of actually owning land with you guys since you all really cool
>>
>>862008
Britanon from the old thread here, If I may throw in my two cents, I feel that we should figure out a solid, written framework of rights and responsibilities before we start taking money - if folks don't trust that we'll see this through, they won't cough up, and equally I think it may be appropriate to allocate some land to more permanent residents, who have paid for it, and more omni-sc/out/ land elsewhere. I think it would be a great shame if someone where to take advantage of kindness and altruism, so we should have safeguards to prevent that.
Hate to be a downer, but I just really want this to go well for all /out/kind.
>>
>>862015
i agree the Britanon, we need some kind of "sc/out/ charter laying out rules and safeguards, so we can use this thread for that something that when an anon comes onto one of the sites to say, they read and sign a contract or something so i guess we need to come up with the safeguards for this property like you said, any ideas?

Does /out/ put patches on their backpacks?
209 posts and 62 images submitted.

No, that's cringy as fuck, even worse when backpacks have tons of velcro on the outside. I did buy some out round patch because the anon doing it was top notch.
