Is that what you look like?
InB4 Arc'terx and Icebreaker fan bois
I live in Chicago, and the only winter gear I own is a surplus army wool commando sweater. Been wearing the same one for 5 years now.
They are super comfy, breathable, water resistant, and warm as hell.
I've worn them down to -15F, and in 100F desert heat.
What I'm lacking are proper leggings. My thighs get cold. I wear jeans, and could use some long johns. Smart Wool makes some great ones, but they are hella fucking expensive. Good alternative brand?
>>863177
No.

>>863227
No, I'm just used to cold weather. Coats are bulky, and uncomfortable for me. I've never been in a situation where my commando didnt keep me warm.
Marino johns is what I want, but what brand that's not a rip off like Smart Wool is
>>863180
get dat Minus33 on Amazon. $50 for the midweight leggings, and they worked well all winter in CO last year. No holes, minimal pilling, and comfy as fuggggggg
>>863180
Hello fellow Chicago Anon. I miss the cold. I'm sick of mellow grey winters. I hope we get a cold one this year, with lots of snow. I want snow like 2014, where that one day it covered all the cars in the streets past their tires.

Stop whining and move
>>863180
Shooting sweaters are based as a mid-layer or primary.
I just get cheap ones since my thigs rub together and blow out the crotch in less then one season
Tfw no thighgap :^[

>Admitting your a grill on Chinese cartoon image board

Are you 10 years old or a pirate?
No adult would use this term.
>>863451
welcome newfriend!
>>863451
>2001 + 15
>thinking people don't wear longjohns while out
>>863451
>No adult would use this term.
Thats why I just say "silvers"
>>863490
same. i'm gonna write a song about it in fact.
will post when done, might be a couple weeks
>>863092
Holy shit that's an aesthetic outfit. You could only do it while dyel though
>>863492
You have no idea how much this intrigues me.
I cant wait!
>>863492
Saved this thread just for the song
You better deliver.
What shirts do yall wear while out? Some old t shirts?
>>863018
Is this the gay thread?
First time I've needed to into base layers
T-they go tight against your skin, r-right? I bought a set of under armor from a sports authority that was closing down and it's pretty tight and compressing on me.
Base layers wouldn't work if they weren't tight against the skin right?
>>863177
I got u senpai
>pic related is hella cozy
>>863868
Fucking icebreaker fag, git out of here!
Cabela's has a great midweight set of underwear. I still wear my under Armour compression base layer under these though but that's just me. I go on days long hikes and need compression on my lower legs to keep them from swelling up.
>>863864
Just get some merino wool LJS, you dont need to fuck with that compression stuff
>>863700
>>863853
Well lucky for all y'all I'm on vacation for a couple weeks so I might just pull it off. Stay tuned!
>>863031
You really embiggened this thread with that link
>>864138
you might even say I engorged it.
>>863864
You don't need compression, that's for sports fags, just against the skin.
I picked up a North Face jacket this spring in their outlet mall for super cheap.
Did not wear since the season was over.
Took it out today for the cool weather only to find the liner zips out and is its own jacket like pic related!
I got two for the price of one!
Makes me want to go shopping for summer stuff so I can be ahead of the game again.
>Brynje super thermo longs
>Brynje super thermo t-shirt
>underarmor raid ss t shirt
planing on getting a proper pair of pants next, might buy a pair of fjallraven from a friend. Pretty nice price.
>>863490
The term is "long johns". No silver. Not even if they're the ones treated with silver so you never have to wash them.

Where I am from, they are called Long John Silvers or LJS or just silvers.
>>863889
too cozy to leave now famalam
>>863018
I live in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. 36 years of winter temps averaging -20C, -4F for the US Americans. Trust me that polar fleece underwear is the way to go. I've tried them all. I'm gonna shill Stanfield's long underwear as well. I still have my original pair that must be like 7 years old now with minimal wear and tear. About as warm as wool but you don't overheat as much.
>>863180
same. almost exactly. It's warm as fuck. tendency to overheat though with wool. polar fleece is better for regulating and also can be dried much much faster. But also will get holes from stray campfire embers. They insulate about the same though both dry and wet. Either can be found for dirt cheap in thrift stores.
>>864642
this. usually just silvers
>>864642
Where i'm from, they're called long silvers, or just john silvers.
The guy who invented them (john Silver) is from my hometown and apparently he would got angry at people who put "long" in front.
He said he didn't really intend for them to be considered "long underwear", so he preferred the term "john silvers".
He also opposed the term "long johns" because he said it would erase the Silver family legacy.
>>864498
err....ok
>>864717
>the more you know
>>864717
then it's settled. i will sing the tale of john silver.
>>863492
>>864867
Will I be able to masturbate to it ?
buying these tomorrow. The Patagonia thermal weight zip hoodie and bottoms
>>866471
>>866471
holly carp the hoodie with bottoms is like $200. i swear to god you'd better go /out/ and use them!
>>866474
I will be /out/ hopefully for 6-7 months. Doing an Appalachian trail thru hike early next year, so a very good base layer is needed.
>>866476
aw shit, that's awesome! and you're right, a good base layer is definitely needed. enjoy!
>>863180
The jeans are the problem, you might as well be naked as far as heat retention.
>>866473
Give us a mini review when you get them eh?
Those are some sweet looking silvers
>>866544
