Nice.
Ditto Silva. I bought a Silva compass at ayardsale for a USD that had no fluid. Returned a Type 28 (discontinued mid grade) and rcvd a Ranger XL replacment.
Now my best!
Has anyone on here ever used the Tensile Flite Tree Tent? Is it any good?
From what I have seen it looks like it's a pretty good two person tent, a good carry weight capable of holding two people plus kit.
I'm interested if anyone has any information on it before I sink $350 into it.
The advantages of this tent:
Nothing
The disadvantages of this tent:
Looking like a complete fool when you use it
Not being able to get into the tent easily
Not being able to get pets into the tent (how the hell is that woman's dog in the pic going to get in there?)
Having to find suitable trees to tie your tent to
Potentially breaking your neck if you fuck up and your tent falls with you in it
Seriously, how the fuck is it convenient to get into a tent in mid air?
Good luck getting that shit level
Want to put your shoes on? Well fuck you, you don't have a vestibule so have fun putting your wet shoes in your tent
Want to fuck in there? Well you better enjoy fucking at the resonance frequency of your tent, because if not you're going to be getting seasick in there
Bob around like a toy sailboat in a light breeze
Target for UFO abductions
Any questions?

>Looking like a complete fool when you use it
Yup.
>Not being able to get into the tent easily
Literally only disadvantage.
>Not being able to get pets into the tent (how the hell is that woman's dog in the pic going to get in there?)
Why the fuck would you let your dog into your tent?
More importantly, why are you bringing pets to camping but no pet tent?
>Having to find suitable trees to tie your tent to
Literally any area with trees will do well.
>Potentially breaking your neck if you fuck up and your tent falls with you in it
What did you stick the string to the tree with? Duct tape?
>Seriously, how the fuck is it convenient to get into a tent in mid air?
The area can be muddy.
>Good luck getting that shit level
You need to have 20/400 vision to not be able to get it level.
>Want to put your shoes on? Well fuck you, you don't have a vestibule so have fun putting your wet shoes in your tent
Tie them to one of the strings.
>Want to fuck in there? Well you better enjoy fucking at the resonance frequency of your tent, because if not you're going to be getting seasick in there
You can't even fit 2 people in there.
>Bob around like a toy sailboat in a light breeze
Again, if you don't tie the strings like a fucking retard it shouldn't bob.
>Target for UFO abductions
I didn't get this

His exaggeration and your Tree Tent apologetics aside, he has a point. There's literally nothing wrong with a regular tent or a hammock or a tarp. The Tree Tent doesn't need to exist. It has no real advantage. And "the area can be muddy" is about as dumb as him complaining about minor things like shoes. People have been setting up tents with a little mud around them for a long time with no real problems. It's just a stupid invention and doesn't need to exist.

2.5 acres, fenced and gated, 3bd, 2 ba, well house, oversized garage, all electric, fireplace, stemwall foundation, crawl space, rural, neighbors have chickens, turkeys, hourses and I hear a donkey out there sometimes.
Ride quads from house, shooting 10 minute drive, 30 min drive to work.
$895/mo.
I like it for me.
So, big news I just found out a few hours ago. I have a close family friend, who knows the legendary Mick Dodge, the great outdoors-man. He knew him personally for 5 years before he left to go live in the wilderness. I was so excited, and I needed to tell someone. I can tell you all what my uncle told me about Mick Dodge. For instance, his original name was Lee Dodge before he changed his name.

....go on
Going to Colorado for a week with the doggo
My idea is to take a tent of course as I'll be with the mutt
I'll be taking an inflatable mattress because I can't manage to be comfortable on foam pads or anything
I'd appreciate if anyone could suggest a good inflatable pillow? I've got a fucked up neck from a car wreck a while ago and would prefer something that would make it easier to sleep.
>>866971
I use this one. It's overpriced, but has lasted me dozens of nights, with no sign of wear and tear.
I lay a shemagh over it for texture, like a pillow case, as a stubble beard is very uncomfortable on it. .
Folds down into nothing, and will fit anywhere. Takes 3 breaths to inflate. Most reviews say to not fill it all the way because its more comfortable, but for me, all the way full/firm is way better.

How different are the premiums from the one you have? I planned on just taking a pillow case and putting it over it. I gotta have something with a decent amount of space on it, I hate trying to fight to find that sweet spot on a 9x6" pillow
>>867000
I have this one.
The difference between the premium, and the one here >>866988 is the premium has a nice covering on it that makes it softer. The other one is really just an rubber inflatable. The premium has several layers that make it much nicer. That way you don't have to carry lay a shemgah on it.
It's pricey but I love mine.
I've got some mushrooms growing in my yard. Will any of them cure me of my PTSD and autism?

Makes you feel like a retard, doesn't it?
was chopping wood yesterday when I found this between logs in my woodpile. I live in MN, about 50 miles north of the twin cities.
I told my wife if she kept fucking that dog I would have to get rid of it
How big is it?
>>866796
It was an Alsatian.
Malamute doggo pulls like a train and my back goes whenever i've got to walk both him and his bro. Personally think its cruel using a nose harness -- which the Mrs insists is the greatest thing ever -- after going on a walk with her to see, the doggo spent the whole time trying to get the nose harness off it's nose, hurting itself and wrapping the extention-lead around its legs all the time. Shit show.
Tried it with his bungie-lead and belt just above the belly and it was great, hands free etc. Just worried about long term back issues.
How about teaching the dog how to walk properly?
How about learning how you walk dogs properly?
Your dog should learn to walk properly beside you first. It's a good hands free way to do it but if your dog pulls you with force you're not going to be very happy.

Sledge dog: has spent countless generations been bred to pull. They're bred to pull, also to chase off moose, scavenge and whatnot from a camp along with other things. Those that didn't died They're happy pulling and i have my doggo on the beach with a bungle lead and bike a lot of the time when the tide is right.
No all breeds are the same retards.

Any advice or books you can suggest on how to get into mountain climbing? Where do i have to start if i want to get on a summit that requires more than just walking? I am decently fit but have no experience with climbing or ropes at all.

Hit up a local gym and start climbing.
Boulder and use auto belay, though most gyms have some service that will set you up with partners.
Learn to top rope climb and belay first. This includes safety, knots, harness use, and general climbing technique.
Next up comes indoor leading. You will need to learn a new style of belaying, and you will need to learn how to clip draws instinctively and instantly.
After that, learn outdoor leading. You will need to buy a rope and full sport rack, learn more safety procedures, learn how to build anchors, and some other techniques like rappelling and recovering a rope.
After this, try out sport multi pitching. Your anchors and procedures will become more complex, and you will be spending a lot longer on the wall.
After this comes basic trad. This requires a lot of money and skill. If you did all of the above, you will make a good deal of friends in your local community, so you can borrow somebody rack and just follow them around learning. With the above, you can just learn online and build anchors and shit in your basement before easing into the real thing, but with trad you NEED a mentor. Very important.
Now comes trad multipitching. Same as sport mulipitching, just trad.
Then comes trad big wall. At this point, you will learn to sleep on the rock.
Ice climbing is harder to get into, as you cant just walk into a gym and start. As you go through the journey detailed above, keep a look out for people you know that ice climb, and ask to tag along if they ever talk about a trip. The concepts are all the same, you just need some extra skills.
Good luck braj

>leading indoors is a prerequisite to leading outdoors
>sport is a prerequisite to trad
fuck that. make friends with someone who has the gear and go learn to place pro.
thank you, guys. next thing im doing is going to the gym and talk to people there.
is it common to only climb indoors or will most of them be training for outdoors?
i also have read about courses that last several days and show you the basics on an actual mountain, but they are quite expensive. do you think it is worth the price?
