For a month, but one famous bushcrafter/survivalexpert is coming with you. Who do you choose?

I'm gonna go with based Ray. I might not jump waterfalls or do other amazing shit, but I'll survive and maybe even get fat while doing so.

A few things related to winter hunting season:

What do you use for snow pants? Hardshell? Softshell? Gore-Tex?
I'm looking for waterproof all white ones or german camo/nice minimalist military pattern or real tree.
So far I like these....
https://shop.ccs.com/686-authentic-infinty-shell-cargo-snowboard-pants-realtree-ap-snow

---------------------

How about gloves?
I'm looking for something big ....or small if high quality ones can be both small and warm, white hopefully, waterproof and hopefully and something with rather decent dexterity if possible.
So far I only know of these...

https://www.rei.com/rei-garage/product/106463/gordini-challenge-xiii-gtx-mittens-mens

https://www.rei.com/rei-garage/product/106320/gordini-da-goose-v-gtx-mittens-mens

I don't know if a mitten of a glove is warmer or even if it matters if they're expensive/high quality ones.

https://www.rei.com/rei-garage/product/106319/gordini-da-goose-v-gtx-gloves-mens

https://www.rei.com/rei-garage/product/106462/gordini-swagger-gloves-mens

https://www.rei.com/rei-garage/product/858051/komperdell-bc-flex-touring-gloves

And if you feel like looking around REI (they have a good sale) what would the best, cheapest glove/mitten be on there so I can buy a bunch for homeless people?

--------------

Lastly, what of monoculars?
I only know that I want at least 10 to 20+ times magnification that run under $40-ish and are more than decent (not cheap plastic, clear/quality glass) ........and/or compact as possible, if they happen to be decently priced, renowned BInocular)

. . . Please help me out with some suggestions.

I bought my Gordini gloves last winter and they are nice.

My monocular is 6x 30mm, off Amazon, cheap and super clear, by Roxtant.

At the dollar general they sell a beanie-glove combo for 5 dollars that has "mixed recycled chinese fabric" hats that are very thin and not very warm but the golves are super thick and nice

They also sell a large thick beanie with 3m thinsulate in it for like 6 dollars, I usually don't wear hats but when I'm winter camping they're the best. since they're so cheap I buy like 5 of them and then just throw them away when they break.

It's called Vagiwood, or "Nature's Tampon".
Soft wood, very spongy, with a thick red sap.

Can it be done? Only for a 3-5 nights, one or two nights at a time with accommodation in between, and will be staying withing a few mins walk of vehicle in case escape become necessary.

Tent: Force 10 Vortex 300
Bag: Rab Neutrino 800
Sleeping mat: Thermarest Neoair Xtherm Max
(plus a cheap self inflating mat for extra insulation, a wool blanket, full body hooded merino thermal and full body fleece thermal too. Of course with gloves, socks and hat.

Not to mention lots of more than sufficient cold weather clothing for when

Intuitively with the above kit and by staying within easy walking distance of a vehicle with heating and fuel I am confident that it will be totally fine, but some of the forums in which the topic has been discussed have been dissuasive.

What do you guys reckon? Cheers

Guys, I'm from /pol/ and have no idea if whats going to happen is or not. But I'm about 75% certain a nuclear war will breakout between us and Russia; if not full blown then Cold.

WHAT do I need to learn about surviving outdoors?
HOW do I do this stuff on a poorfag budget (three person household, below poverty level with a not quite 2 year old, one parent working other sahp)?
WHERE do we go? We live in NKY, 10-15 min drive into Cincinnati Oh. Not the best place in my opinion to be when/if shit goes down.

Sorry if this sounds dumb. I'm very concerned about my child surviving anything like this if it were to happen.

ATVs are destroying my property. They've dug-up a fucking road with their, cut saplings out of way, dragged logs and boulders out of their way, and chopped "trail markers" into the bark of my trees. It's all mud and divets back there, and their trails direcly bypasses my No Trespassing signs. This shit is not tolerable.

People on foot, hikers, skiiers, hunters, dogwalkers, horny teenagers, etc are all welcome on my land. But poachers and property damagers are real fuckos.

Wat do?

Also share your stories, tips, etc!

I recently found that the lock on a fire escape near my house in London has rusted off, and so it is now very easy to get to the roof of this 6 storey building by climbing some steps and a couple of ladders. The roof is mostly flat with a chimneystack in the corner, and has a hot air vent which makes it comfy and warm even in the winter.

I want to somehow set up the place so that, in dry weather, I can take the trip up to the roof and study physics (my chosen subject) up there, in a comfy environment with a nice view and away from the distractions of home.

So I'm trying to think of what things I'll need to make it comfy up there. So far I have:
>portable whiteboard to tape to chimneystack to do work on
>whiteboard pens
>rug or mat to sit on, the same kinda thing hobos have
>some sort of weatherproof object to hold files and papers in
>maybe a portable heater or light source

So my question is twofold.
1) Can you think of anything else that would be good to have there? It either needs to be portable enough for me to bring it there every time, or weatherproof+cheap enough for me to not care if it gets stolen.

2) What kind of weatherproof mats and light sources are available, and where can I get them from for a reasonable price?

Congrats on your find OP. Firstly I'd suggest you ensure your cosy hideaway stays secret - you mentioned there was a rusted lock? Replace it with a similar one of your own. It would act as a deterrent to kids/vandals/homeless and also would hopefully mean the security breach goes unnoticed by the buildings caretaker.

As for what to take up... up to you really, as you say it should be waterproof but possibly a bigger consideration will be the wind.

It would be perfect if there was a rooftop plant room you could gain access to.

Good call on the new lock. Will do.

I haven't noticed the wind being a huge problem, because there are taller buildings next door that shield my roof somewhat, but then again I have only been there twice so maybe I've just been lucky with the weather so far.

Unfortunately theres no plant room or any similar kind of overhead shelter available. Its just a flat roof with an electrical box, an airvent and a small railing.

What do you mean by this?

Creating a solo rpg book game to stave off boredom while I'm on week long hikes. May end up marketing it as a travelers time waster after I finish the initial board concept.

What elements would you folks favor in such a game? You guys are my target audience so asking other boards isn't really an option.

>>
Comfy adventures only. Preferably about being innawoods.
>>
>>884117
>>884123

Pocket sized would be the general idea, with a fold out magnetic world map which would be modular so past end game people would be able to create designs of their own for new adventures. I'm in the process of content development right now; camping this weekend so much time to think over everything. When I feel a solid foundation is set I'll work on artwork and housing for the magnetic board and probably a slide out pad for note taking and character statics. Hoping the overall design will weigh around 8oz in total... hopefully.

Anyone ever try military boots for /out/ activities. They seem cheap from military surplus stores and they are good enough for invading the world and going through hellish situations.

Worth a shot or better sticking to name brands?

Am park ranger so I have kind of gotten use to military/police style gear.

Pic unrelated.

buy actual hiking boots. end up costing the same, used/surplus boots is stoopid in some many ways,
>>
Rocky sv2 boots have served me well for two years and 200$ and I actually have to ruck and wear them every single day, I could easily get another two years from them despite them just looking "old."

That being said you should probably just buy hiking boots, it just seems stupid to get military gear because it looks cool
>>
>>883602
Im not trying to look cool. Just looking at quality cost. They don't pay park rangers much, but the upswing is I get to live in the woods as part of my job.
