My friends are pussies and don't want to go hiking/ camping on anything other than a perfect sunny day. Who lives in Maine and wants to join me on my outings?
I have this problem in MA. I've cajoled them a couple times to go out in the frigid snowy horror but they don't enjoy it at all. I think it's the bee's tits.
Here they are falling about by the riverbank. They hated it. I broke my camera that night too, but replaced it with a weather sealed rugged Pentax. Good times.

Nice photo edit haha. I'll probably start asking some of the randoms in my college's outing club. There's got to be someone else here who gets it like you and I do.

Being outdoor in the winter weather is so primally foreboding and alien, and yet so peaceful and beautiful, that I find it irresistible. But yeah, that sounds like a good place to start looking.

Is there a legal entity for classifying growing zones? How often is this information updated, and is it basically gospel? Seems like my area (northern california) has been hot as FUCK the past 5 years or more compared to previously.
>>882467
If you live in northern California chances are you have a poor memory
Convince me that a better water bottle exists.
- Keeps cold up to 24hr
- Keeps hot up to 6hrs
- BPA free
- Sweat-free powder coat finish
- Lifetime warranty
As an avid backpacker and hiker in the PNW, I have yet to find a higher quality product. Only complaint I could give would be its price, but the lifetime warranty negates that in my opinion.

sounds like any good quality thermos flask, except for lighter. just get it if you want and stop being such a gearfaggot about it

How many times did you masturbate to this, degenerate?

Why do faggots like you associate little girls with sex?
And the hyper sexualization of our youth continues.
How nice is blimp travel /out/. I ask this because I will be riding in one soon and if anyone on here has any experiences, I would like to know. I've heard that they are comfy and are smooth sailors.
Also, General Air Travel thread.

the dream
hey out. What's a good improvised weapon I can make that can be stored in a backpack? preferably with some striking distance and heft to it IE not a knife
I was thinking cutting down a short staff and attaching a large striking surface with a spike of some sort. But not exactly in the shape of an axe
So you want something that functions exactly like a knife or an axe, but isn't a knife or an axe? I guess you could take a stick, duct tape a rock to the end of it and then duct tape some razor blades to that.
nunchucks

pipe shotgun
You have a shotgun, and after you fire it you have a pipe. Pretty handy weapon.
What's your go to day pack? What do you use to get your kill /out/? What hear goes on your bag.
I use a pic related for day hikes with a knife and saw and lunch and sometimes only 1.5 liters or so of water depending on weather. It's capable of strapping a hind quarter using ropes as it doesnt have bottom compression straps to get me out of the place I'm in. Then can switch to the j34 with nothing in i but a liter of water a flask of whiskey and a knife to pack out the rest boned out or not.
Anybody have a reccomend on a replacement for my day pack?
Pussy road hunters need not apply.
Why'd you start a pack thread and post a white and gray picture, you prick

That stream looked relaxing.

Hey I haven't seen an australian aus thread in ages even though the last one was popular. What have you guys been up to lately, been to any cool places?

Not really /out/ but I was walking through the botanic gardens in brisbane to get to uni and I saw this eel which was coming up to the waters edge. First time seeing an eel in the gardens.
>doing /out/ stuff in Queenslands summer
This is why I'm moving to Tassie.
>>880688
You just have to be tactical about it, last summer I went on a hike which we started at like 5:30 near the end we had a swim in some rock pools and finished before the heat fully set in.
Does anyone know how to best propagate goatheads?
I have found almost no information on the subject .
Mountain bikers have take over some of my favorite trails in my area and this is the only defense I can come up with.
I have already harvested a jar of seeds but now I am wondering if I wouldnt be better off taking cuttings.
Any ideas?
they're annuals so cuttings won't work.
>>877042
You'll pop a couple of their tires then they'll get thorn proof inserts and "your" favorite trails will be worthless to hikers.
>>877064
They're probably already running tubeless tires with Orange Seal, which are pretty much immune to goatheads.
Hey folks,
I do a fair amount of fishing when /out/ and I'd like to find a nice backpacking sized/weigh grill I can use to cook them up. Anyone own a grill similar to pic related? Would love to get my hands in a quality one, titanium if possible.
>>891076
nigre just run to wal•mart or home depot and get yourself a $5-$10 replacement grill and you're good to go. they have all shapes and sizes and they're lighter'n bunny dicks so no need to spend $47 on a titanium ultrafaggot version
>>891081
Except that I also do a lot of backpacking, so saving on weight is a huge plus. Make me mighty happy if I could hike in a frozen steak on day 1 and have it for dinner after smoking it on a hot bed of coals.
Since you are a nu male fag, just use aluminum foil or is that too heavy for your steak fish?
I am currently looking for a new chalk bag for both indoor (and outdoor climbing).
Have heard that it is rather small in comparison to others. For thin-ish male hands.
Boiled my choice down to the
>Arc'teryx Aperture Chalk Bag
Seems good for transporting in packs and such. Tend to prefer smaller bags due to less intrusive when on harness.
It is available in small or large.
>S = 4 inch diametre
>L = 4,5 inch diametre
>anybody have experiences with this bag?
>which size is better?
Just go to REI and pick one up
>>890945
Got no major outdoor retailer in my area.
>no REI
Have to buy online.
holy shit, are you really this wishy-washy op? you must be a fucking thrill and a half when it comes time to pick what to have for dinner.
just make a 4" and a 4 1/2" loop out of stiff paper and see which you like. or order both and return the one you don't like.
Hey gentlemen of the woods,
I am looking to buy a decent tent. I want to do lots of camping, hiking, and eventually some hiking. I'm up hurr in Canada and wondering if anyone has any complaints/experiences with nemo tents...specifically the dagger 2 I'm looking at. Anything to compare to?
Get a TN 2 instead.

How come?

I got the Galaxi 2P and I love it.
I went fishing with my dad a few weeks ago. He let me borrow a lure that had some sort of criss-cross ribbing. It worked by smearing some powerbait onto the criss-cross part. I lost it and I want to buy him another for his birthday (a few weeks from now)
Anybody know what kind of lure it is? I've been to every store that sells fishing supplies in my city. I've looked online, and I have found nothing. Anyone know the type of lure I'm talking about?
This is a really shitty drawing of what I mean
>>890781
Reminds me of a kastmaster or some kind of spoon. Was it all metal?
Dip bait holder?
rate my mini shelter out. The concept is a relatively cheap, rot and rain proof structure with a low profile capable of being hidden out in the woods
sleeps ideally two, storage for packs underneath the bunks. Near the butt end there's a shelf for small items. Air slits also by the back. The door has an internal latch-lock
ITT: small cheap shelter permanent shelter concepts
What happens when it rains for more than 30 minutes?
Do you have gills?

the walls are concrete below ground level. I was also thinking a drainage plug in the center for redundancy. Also was thinking of wrapping the outside layer in plastic groundsheet prior to construction
