Anybody else have anything to add to the Pastebin or Imgur? I put a little saltwater one in there, but I want to do a river one possibly and trout. Just a summary of good spots to target, how to fish those spots, some simple rigs, and a good tackle setup for the beginner.

I feel ya.
I should at least type up the quick tips or casting upstream and trying to fish around spots with slow moving water.

Armed forces confirmed gay. What else is new?
being naked next to another guy vs death
Hey /out/, I have a problem.
I am going out camping with my friends tomorrow, and I am on my period. We are going to be at the campgrounds all week, and there is no plumbing, and the nearest outhouse is an hour walk, which I cannot do, because I have a torn muscle in my knee.
How do I dispose of my used products without attracting animals? Is this even possible?
[Pic extremely unrelated]
I feel bad for your friends.
You have to dig a 2-3 foot hole in the ground away from the campsite.
>>881641
> how
Read your Old Testament, Leviticus should do for a start.
Ok so I'm planning to start /out/ting, but my gear is not the best. Considering I have a backpack, a decent knife and nice boots, what equipment should I get first? I would mainly go to the woods like pic related. Nothing too hc, maybe like 1 night things to start of with.

Probably a sleeping bag. And a way to carry and purify water
Remember.
Shelter, water, food.
Oh, and you want to make sure you don't get lost.
How big is your pack?
Do you have a sleeping pad/bag/tent?
Does it rain a lot where you're going? If so, you might want to invest in a backpack cover to keep your shit dry
Do you have a small stove and cookware?
Do you have a map of the area/compass?
Do you have a small trowel?
Do you have water purification (boiling/iodine/filters)?
Do you have appropriate clothing for the temperature? Remember that a night spent too cold to sleep will be the most miserable night of your life
I thought it was moonstone, so I drug a hardened steel screw driver across the surface, as you can see in the photo the metal just kind've edged itself into the stone, I don't think it's quartz. Does anyone have a clue?
>>880624
They're like mushrooms. Only way to really know is to take a bite.
>>880626
Gembro here, tastes like gems.
>>880627
Cool. Now give it an hour. If you aren't dead, it's safe to eat the rest of it.
I feel retarded anons. Are there any blm lands near mass?
>Wait-time 16 min for DPS roulette list
>Minimize for 5 minutes to read an article
>”Participation could not be confirmed. Your registration is withdrawn.”
I hate this game
>>880062
What are you looking to do exactly?
National parks, and sometimes even state parks allow a range of things to be done in them.
And as always, it's okay to do it if you don't get caught!
>>880116
Bushcraft, primitive survival, building shelters, fires etc.
Is there anything interesting to do in this state?
Pretty much a fisherman's paradise. Also lots of ATV trails. 2 large National Forests. Perfect /out/ state.

On two peninsulas surrounded by the largest collection of freshwater in the western hemisphere, and arguably the world.
No. Not a damn thing. Sorry bro.

I'm not a doomsday consumerist. I just bulk up on canned foods and have a storm shelter. I go hiking and camping because it's fun, not because I'm an autist. I literally seen people out there in their milsurp gear fighting trees telling me they training for WW3.
>>874411
OP here, neither am I. Most of the shit I have in my bag or laying around the house I bought primarily for hiking/camping/shooting. The bag serves as a "juuuust-in-case" measure. It provides some (relatively minor) peace of mind, on the odd chance that shit really does go south.
Armyfag here, some buddies and I got into an argument awhile back about which is better the ALICE or the MOLLE II? also what's /out/'s opinion on going out with a ruck or hell even an assault pack?
This aint a Boots Thread. Its a Goddamn kicks thread.
after taking off my boots last weekend i decided i am officially done with them(unless there is snow on the ground). I hate them i cant stand them. I am looking for a good /out/ shoe that i can put miles on in fairly tough terrain and. I care more about traction and comfort than ankle support or looking like i am in special ops.
please post your favorite trail kicks. Currently i've got my eye on these but im just starting my search so i'm open to suggestions.
it's all you will ever need, senpai.
>>873263
those look like they may fit what i need. just set a price alert. do they ever dip below the 1$40 mark?
taking the Brooks Cascadia 11s on my Appalachian trail thru hike next year.
Use this thread to meetup.
Here in VA I started a kik group so we could arrange innawoods activities and we have about about 10 members. Please message me you want to be added to the group.
Kik - VAskout
With that said, where would you scouts recommend to go innawoods in VA. I just moved here from New England. I'd like to camp and be able to sling a firearm over my shoulder.
Educate me anons.

N'folk whats up.
Can I bring my katana?
>>869587

I will peper spray any dog not on a leash!
And they I will pepper spray thier owners when the bitch abojt it!
Just you try to meet up with me!
What's the ultimate /out/ activity and why it's mountaineering?
I'd say solo ultra long distance thru hiking (like Alaska - Patagonia)
>hiking and camping through many environments
>climbing mountains, crossing deserts
>carrying most everything on your back minus resupply
>can be done at leisure or speedy
>requires many many more skills than any other activity
>>869468
personally I think what those people on naked and afraid were doing was pretty amazing. I mean to go out and try to live off of like a knife and a firesteel and that's literally all is pretty hardcore in my opinion.
>>869468
Because it involves all of the basics of practical /out/ knowledge and, depending on how technical you want to get, allows you to get into some pretty advanced shit.
I haven't been on /out/ in a while but is this typically like something that people argue about or something? Why wouldn't climbing a fucking mountain in extreme terrain be considered god tier /out/ shit?

starts in NY instead of a more easterly point.
pussy
>>882779
You try it then.
>>882779
NY to CA is kind of the gold standard for "coast to coast"
What exactly is NOLS?
National Outdoor Leadership School
>>882640
>>882648
OK serious answer time. NOLS is basically a nonprofit school for /out/door guides and educators. They teach people specific skills like mountaineering, flyfishing, caving, rafting, etc. But they also teach broader things like outdoor ethics, wilderness medicine, risk management, expedition logistics, etc. Probably their most popular offering is Wilderness First Responder, which a lot of guide and tour companies require their employees to be certified in.
They also do a lot of outreach programs and helps develop the Leave No Trace program.
>>882698
Is it a school in the sense that you have to enroll, or do you just apply for their courses? I'm not from the US but they have a couple of courses that are run in Scandinavia which I'd be interested in.
1. Your brand and model of gore-tex boots?
2. For how long can you walk through wet grass or undergrowth before they're completely soaked?
North Meme Havoc GTX
15 minutes, 30 if sprayed just before.
Your boots are shit then.
My Asolo FSN95's would handle a full shift at work in the rain. My feet never got wet.
I miss those fucking boots.
>>881788
I got these on sale, theyre shit
>>881788
Hanwag Alaska GTX: indefinitely, at least I've yet to have them soak through even in a sustained downpour.
Did a small leg of the PCT this weekend just got kicks. It was the Morena to Cibbets bend; just a small 13.5 mile trek which takes about 5 hours to complete. It was a really nice day out. Just going to share some pictures, nothing spectacular.
