What is this? Someone know?

A small pomegranate
>>881551
Nah, it's not that.
I had them in my backyard at my old house here in FL. They almost look like a chili pepper but aren't spicy and they grow on vines. I can't remember the name of them though, something funky like a type of squash or other fruit name
You let this happen /OUT/

Las Vegas has always been known to be a mistake.

...and they said steel toe boots weren't any good for hiking.
Awesome. Gonna start paining rocks neon before stacking them. ty op
Does /out/ wear softshells? I just got pic related and love it. They're so fucking versatile but nobody seems to talk about them here.
Softshells serve no purpose by doing several things poorly.
>>881266
What are you talking about? They're a great active layer when you have no reason to expect rain or when snow is only a possibility.
>>881462
Softshells suck in snow. Not waterproof over hours when its only around freezing, not warm enough when its really cold. Not really windproof in the storm.
What is the purpose of a softshell?
Hey /out/ I am a big time camper/hiker and a /biz/nessman as well. I am also an Eagle Scout.
I recently made this image, it is burned onto leather. Do you think I could sell these? I will also post one burned onto wood that I made.
This one was a gift for my mother, she leads the boy-scout troop in my town. The newest scouts just reached their 30th night of camping.
>>881119
Here is the wood burned boardwalk.
>>881119
How bout a trade? This magic rock for any of your pieces. I'm willing to cover shipping costs.
>>881152
That is just a rock wang.
any one know what kind of plant this is??
my son just ate it!
looks like Ageratum.
>no location, no description of it's habitat.
you're not going to get far with that.
>>881067
if it's Ageratum you're fucked, it's toxic.
So I just recently moved to this state for work related reasons. What /out/ activities are there in this state. I'm in the clark county area. I'm also interested in urban legends and spooky creatures besides area 51 ayy lmao ayy lmao if anyone has anything.

Valley of fire.
Kayaking up the Colorado river on the north side of lake mead has some amazing cave systems.
A lot of stuff hasn't been seen since the damn was built because the reservoir is at an all-time low.
Ski resort at my Charleston is the most ghetto resort I've ever seen, but its there and they're expanding. Plus its only 45 minutes from the strip.

Anybody else have anything to add to the Pastebin or Imgur? I put a little saltwater one in there, but I want to do a river one possibly and trout. Just a summary of good spots to target, how to fish those spots, some simple rigs, and a good tackle setup for the beginner.

Is the one on the left pregnant?
>>880668
She still has an innie. So not too pregnant.
this is the only dude I caught today. He was super feisty though and really pretty.
I also haven't really had a problem with spiderwire. Although the rod I use it on is mostly for cranks and spinnerbaits so that might be why.
Is snowmobiling /out/ worthy? With winter fast approaching I hope to be on the sleds by December. I'm in Northern Ontario and the lakes usually freeze safe by the middle of January.
Do you sled? What kind of sleds, where do you like to go, trail riding or bush wacking?
>>880291
How wouldn't it be out? Tug Hill Ny here. Got some new gear a few weeks ago at the show and I'm officially hyped for the snow to fly. As for what I ride I have a '04 f6 sno pro and a '15 switchback. Usually have 5-6 people in our group that all ride together around the hill, shits so fun. Pic related is the trailer I picked up this summer incase we get fucked like last winter
>>880291
>Do you sled?
A little.
>What kind of sleds
On a '16 Assault 800 this year. Mostly-stock - some clutch work (primary cover/setup, team-tied secondary), rails, couple little things i've done. Keeps me in improved-stock class on the hillcross track, I don't have the bank account to run with mod guys.
Added a snowbike to the fleet this year, I'll probably get a bunch of time on that. '16 YZF450X, YetiMX 120.
>where do you like to go, trail riding or bush wacking?
Mountains, backcountry. I try to avoid trails.
Ride all over the Rockies - last 5 years I've had CO/WY/MT/ID stickers on my sled. Been chasing UT for a while.
Looks like I'll be in ND for an event early December, and instructor training in California in January.
I'm kind of over the show season right now, couple more sponsor/dealer events coming up (at least those are easy), but i'm ready to get on the snow.
I took this on my sled a couple winters go. Forget the bush, I love going on long trips across the lakes and ponds. I like being out in the open going fast, trails are babby tier
I hear that american boars are a pretty big pest. Are they worth hunting/eating?
>>879784
no. pigs and bacon are fucking gross.
>>879784
oh and dont get me started on ham.
>>879784
slow smoked pork ribs? bleh! who would eat that shit?
What is your favorite /out/ novel?
Currently reading The Crossing by Cormac McCarthy, I couldn't recommend it enough.
Holy fuck that was a depressing book.
Fucking riveting but god damn.
I read that fucker over 20 years ago and its still with me.
Jack London is king. But i also like Tolstoy, Thoreau...
the swarm by f. schatzing.
anyone that hasn't read it should.
Hello /out/. I need your help.
What do you do if you're going for an outdoor adventure by yourself? I don't really have any friends where I live but I'm trying to get out more, and just go see a thing. But it seems like whenever I get out for an adventure, it feels fruitless. Honestly, I'm trying to simply get out more than sitting at the computer; going out alone has got to be better than sitting in the dark playing video games every day.
I get to a place, nobody around, and I have to ask myself what the hell I'm doing there. Its like theres nothing to do other than look at trees or some shit. I don't really like working out or doing anything physical. What is it you do if you're going on a solo trip somewhere?
>>879221
Its peaceful n shit, and I can reflect on my life, but shit, I can do that anywhere.
Not many people can simply enjoy being /out/ for /out/'s sake. If you're having trouble finding purpose, set a goal or specific destination you want to go see. Think up a few things you may want to do on the trail like improvement on building fires, setting up shelters, creating a bird watching log, etc. My goal for this weekend is to do 20 miles on the PCT and work on my ability to identify plant life and fungus. Then I'll head back to camp and get dickered on some rum around the fire all night, and a little light reading.
>>879229
I think it would be cool to start a small fire to stare into while the sun is going down, however in CA starting a fire on purpose is akin to punch a pregnant woman.
Overall my goals are to disconnect from constant media like youtube, news, snapchat, etc. Just listen and look at the world as well as space out and daydream.
Really lameass threads and posts.
Shitposting general containment thread.
Bonus for /out/ oc.

Hike last sun.

You're an idiot.
Anyone have a lot of succulent knowledge? I picked these up at a local nursery on the clearance shelf. They were just labeled "Sedum sp." I think they are both Sedum adolphii cultivars. Maybe one is just Sedum adophii?
Hard to tell when they're not in flower. Left one MIGHT be some Crassula ovata cultivar

I've always loved hiking, but I'm new to camping so I've been researching and gathering equipment. Right now I'm looking to buy my first knife. I can afford the Buck Knives 110 and from what I've read it seems to be iconic with outdoorsy people and it has good reviews, so it seems like I can't go wrong with it. However I would like your opinions on it.
Is there anything that would serve me better for the same price? Please make suggestions if you have them.
>>877785
>Heavy
>420 HC
>Backlock
Get a cold steel or something.
Voyager large is a few bucks more.
For 68$ you get a code 4 with premium steel.
Buck hasn't made a decent looking knife in over 2 decades
Just get a Mora. Less than 1/3 the price, better, and lighter.
I'm thinking of buying a canvas wall tent and stove and solar panels and live off the grid on my Grandparent's ranch. It'd only cost me $10-15K tops. How would I go about setting up plumbing for showers, cleaning, etc.
>>877758
>>/diy/
Bucket over head for shower.
Bucket underneath for shitter.
10-15k will get you some nice buckets.
For $15k you can get something way more year-round livable than a wall tent.
Hell, you build a decent dry cabin for $15k.
