Military Boots

buy actual hiking boots. end up costing the same, used/surplus boots is stoopid in some many ways,

Rocky sv2 boots have served me well for two years and 200$ and I actually have to ruck and wear them every single day, I could easily get another two years from them despite them just looking "old."

That being said you should probably just buy hiking boots, it just seems stupid to get military gear because it looks cool

Army vet here. I've never liked the issues boots. They are cheap something about them never fit my foot right. The Nike military boots came out as I was leaving the army and they aren't super durable but fuck they are comfy.

I usually wear merrells now. A few of y'all shit on them as beginner tier footwear but I like them and they are comfy for hill country Texas.

Basically OP issue army boots are shit.

I used my issued boots to hike for seven days, and even with amazing wool socks it was abso fucking lutely terrible. DO NOT wear military boots for long hikes if you can't, no breathability and they never fit exactly how they should.

issue military boots can be good. but most of them suck.

I pawned every issue boot I got, because I was in a real unit. we got sv2s every year.

if you come across a pair of sv2s or oakleys from 09-11 buy them. otherwise, you are probably better off going to rei.

if u do buy issue boots, but the summers first. even if u I hate them, summer army boots are handy to have.

I have some british surplus Alt-Bergs. I got them for $35 almost new, and wear them to work every day (HVAC) and I hike in them. They're killer. Not so sure about US milsurp though.
